For decades, colorectal cancer (CRC) was most often diagnosed in people age 50 and older. However, about 10% of colorectal cancers are in people younger than 50 – called young-onset CRC. Since 1994, cases of young-onset CRC have increased by 51%. Start your screening for CRC at age 45. If you have a family history of CRC, your screenings should start 10 years before the age of diagnosis of a first-degree relative (mother, father or sibling).
