Stillwater Hospice Great Falls

Stillwater Hospice Great Falls Stillwater Hospice honors and respects the sacred process that is end-of-life care. Learn more about the Stillwater Hospice difference.

Locally owned, we are redefining hospice care by providing a combination of professional medical care and an outstanding support network designed to meet the needs of our patients and their families. We take the time to educate you on what hospice is, how it benefits those we work with, and how we help make every moment count. At its most basic, hospice care encompasses the services needed to maintain the comfort and dignity of a person whose life is limited. At Stillwater Hospice, however, we believe hospice care is far more than that. It is the opportunity to compassionately honor life, instill hope, and allow our patients to make the most of the days, weeks and months they may have left to live. Stillwater Hospice services can be provided to terminally ill people wherever they live. This means a patient living in a nursing facility or long-term care facility can receive specialized visits from our nurses, home health aides, chaplains, social workers, and volunteers, in addition to other care and services provided by the nursing facility. Stillwater Hospice professionals and the nursing home have a written agreement in place for the hospice to serve residents of the facility. Hospice care serves those who have any terminal, or life-ending, condition. Therefore, it is appropriate to consider hospice once “curative” treatments—those designed to restore good health—will no longer be used. Once entering hospice, each patient receives an individualized treatment plan reflecting their personal goals, medical needs, and the level of support required. In our experience, hospice care can positively impact a patient’s spouse, partner, and family as much as it does the patient. We can help reduce stress and worry by providing knowledge, structure, and support.

📢 Our February Spotlight is live! This month’s story comes out of our Bozeman, Montana agency and features Becky Smith, LPN, who serves as on-call and PRN hospice support.

She has witnessed communities come together in remarkable ways through her hospice work — neighbors building ramps, teams finding meaningful resources, and chaplains honoring faith practices with deep respect. These moments, experienced at the bedside and in family homes, reinforce her belief that it takes an intentional, collaborative team to truly support families in crisis.

February Volunteer Spotlight 💙 Stillwater Hospice | Butte, Montana

This month, we’re honored to spotlight Cindy Harrington, a lifelong Butte native whose heart for service runs deep.

Cindy is a retired homemaker and waitress who has spent her life caring for others with grit, love, and perseverance. She’s a devoted mom to five grown children and a proud grandmother currently raising three of her grandchildren—family is truly at the center of everything she does.

Known for her honesty, loyalty, and genuine compassion, Cindy is a cherished volunteer whose kindness and reliability make a real difference. She shows up, steps in, and gives her time with an open heart, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she meets.

When she’s not volunteering, Cindy enjoys outdoor rides, time in nature, gardening, and cooking meals that bring her family together. A lifelong admirer of bears, Cindy’s life reflects resilience, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to family and community.

🩵 Thank you, Cindy, for all you do. We are so grateful to have you as part of our team in Butte!

One of the most powerful forms of love is advocacy.

Speaking up for comfort, values, and wishes isn’t easy — but it helps ensure care aligns with what matters most. Hospice teams exist to support those conversations with clarity, patience, and compassion.

February often celebrates love through big gestures — but in healthcare, love usually shows up quietly.

It looks like planning ahead, asking hard questions, and choosing care that reflects what truly matters. Thoughtful decision-making is one of the most meaningful ways families show love at the end of life.
