Exercise helps people maintain a healthy weight and lowers their risk of certain diseases. Regular exercise can help prevent weight gain, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure. Exercises that strengthen bones, such as jumping, running, or lifting weights, can help maintain bones strong.
Exercise can help a person age well. This may not seem important right now, but your body will thank you later. As you get older, regular exercise enhances your quality of life – your ability to appreciate things.
