Today is World Down Syndrome Day. 💛💙

The date 3/21 was chosen to represent Trisomy 21, the genetic difference where individuals have three copies of chromosome 21 instead of the usual two.

This day is recognized worldwide to raise awareness, celebrate individuals with Down syndrome and promote inclusion in our communities.

You may notice people wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks today. Why? The campaign symbolizes chromosomes, which resemble socks in shape. It’s a simple way to spark conversations and show support.

At OASIS, we believe every child deserves to be seen, valued and supported in reaching their full potential.

Save the date for March 20, 2026! In collaboration with The NoCo Autism Connection, we're offering an evening of learning, connection and practical tools for caregivers and children.

We will be hosting an interactive workshop led by Danielle Ripsam, occupational therapist at OASIS. Danielle will focus on co-regulation using calm presence, voice and body language to help children feel safe and organized.

The evening includes caregiver-only learning (childcare provided) and a guided “lab” session to practice strategies together.

You’ll leave feeling confident, supported and equipped with tools you can use right away!

Traveling this Spring Break? Changes in routine can impact regulation, especially for children who thrive on routine.

A few simple strategies:�

✔️ Bring familiar comfort items. A favorite toy or blanket creates comfort in new environments.
✔️ Set clear expectations before leaving. Talk through what to expect before you leave.
✔️ Offer consistent snack options. Familiar foods reduce stress during transitions.
✔️ Don't forget planned downtime. Quiet breaks help children reset and regulate.

Preparation creates confidence for children and caregivers.

Make Waves with WHALE!

We’re excited to help spread the word about the 3rd Annual Waves of Love Giving Luncheon benefiting WHALE Respite Center, our mission partner doing incredible work to support children with developmental delays and disabilities and the families who care for them.

The Details:

• Friday, April 10, 2026
• 11 AM – 1 PM
• Aims Community College | Greeley, CO

Guests will enjoy lunch, inspiring stories and the chance to connect with others who care deeply about building inclusive communities. This event supports affordable, inclusive childcare and respite services for children ages 6 weeks to 18 years across northern Colorado.
