2:17am in a hospital room.

The lights were dim. The room was quiet except for steady breathing and the hum of monitors.

Labor had been going for hours. At one point mom whispered, “I don’t think I can do this.”

The house was quiet except for the soft sounds of a newborn settling after a feeding.

A parent finally exhaled after hours of trying to soothe their baby. The exhaustion was real, but so was the love in the room.

These are the moments people don’t always talk about when they imagine life with a newborn.

The middle of the night.

The tiny victories — like a baby finally drifting back to sleep.
