Howe Community Resource Center

Howe Community Resource Center HCRC ensures that children and families are safe, healthy and ready for success! In 2000, 526 S.

What is now known as Howe Community Resource Center started out as a small parent resource room at Howe School. Realizing that the space at Howe School was limited and having bigger visions, stakeholders began looking for a permanent building. Monroe Ave (a former AAA) was purchased and remodeled through the hard work and generosity of many in the community. The name was changed in 2013 to Howe Community Resource Center, recognizing the role the center plays as a resource and our efforts in building community. By 2004, momentum had grown and many of the programs and services offered at the resource center were thriving. Oral Health Partnership was created and, in 2006, a state of the art, 3-chair dental clinic was added to provide full service dental care to underinsured or uninsured children. In 2009, we became a gateway agency for The Community Partnership for Children, thus beginning our parenting program

We know we have something very special and unique. As we look to the future, we look to expand the number of resource center created programs, as well as maintain partnership programs. The resource center is one of the three gateway agencies in our community that provide services to ensure children, prenatal to 5 years old, are safe, healthy, and ready for school. New programs and exciting new directions have called for new staff members. We have come a long way from that small, one room resource center and we are excited about where we will go next! We do not have service restrictions based on age or income, and we serve all of Brown County, so take a look at what we offer and join in the fun!

The holidays are over… now what? ❄️
If you’re feeling a little bummed now that there’s less to do, winter feels heavy, or your New Year’s resolutions already feel discouraging—you’re not alone.

Winter can be hard. Shorter days, colder weather, and disrupted routines can take a toll on mental health. This is your reminder that now is the time to refocus on you.

Small steps can make a big difference:
✨ Move your body in ways that feel good
🌿 Get outside—even just a few minutes of daylight
💡 Consider light therapy if winter blues hit hard
🥗 Nourish your body with balanced meals
😴 Prioritize sleep and keep a consistent routine

If these simple strategies don’t help, or if your mood, energy, or motivation are significantly impacting your daily life, it’s important to reach out. Consulting with a physician or mental health professional can help you get the support you deserve.

You don’t have to do everything—start with one small change. Be gentle with yourself this season. Taking care of your mental health is always worth it. 💙

✨ Seeking Facilitators: Women’s Wellness Programming ✨
We are currently exploring women’s wellness programming and the potential for a summer women’s retreat that would include facilitated workshops and small-group experiences.
We are interested in connecting with facilitators who have experience in areas such as:
• Self-care & sustainable wellness practices
• Holistic wellness & mind–body connection
• Spirituality (inclusive, non-religious approaches)
• Art therapy & creative expression
• Music therapy & sound-based practices
• Trauma-informed yoga
• Trauma-informed movement / exercise
• Nervous system education & regulation
• Mindfulness & grounding practices
• Crafting as regulation and self-expression
• Women’s leadership & empowerment
If you are a facilitator with experience in any of these areas — or know someone who may be a good fit — please comment here or reach out directly.
📧 Contact: Delaney Hutchinson
dhutchinson@gbaps.org
We are especially interested in facilitators who value trauma-informed practice, accessibility, and creating supportive group environments.

🎁 A huge thank you to The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay for organizing Adopt-A-Family and for all the work that goes into making this program possible. Our team loved starting the season by volunteering to help sort gifts for Adopt-A-Family — and we are incredibly grateful to also be an organization whose families benefit from this generosity through our Parents as Teachers Home Visiting program.

🚚 A special shoutout to The Boldt Company and their amazing team for volunteering their time and donating a truck that morning to pick up all the gifts and bring them back to the center. Your support helped make this a smooth and joyful process for everyone involved!

💛 It truly takes a community, and we are so thankful for partners who show up in so many meaningful ways to support children and families. Thank you for helping us spread warmth, care, and holiday cheer!

Our Story

Howe Community Resource Center (HCRC), in partnership with Howe Elementary School, builds a strong and resilient community through education and support to children and their families.

The Center lives our mission by providing services to Howe Elementary School children and families as well as providing parenting education and support to young at-risk families in Brown County. We are celebrating a 20+ year relationship/partnership with Howe Elementary School. We believe by providing support in the areas of increased attendance and parent engagement, students have a greater chance at academic success.

In our comprehensive and intensive parenting work, we also want to see families succeed. The major component of our parenting program is home visitation with families who have children under five to ensure all children are healthy, safe and ready to learn. We focus on three main areas in every home visit: Parent-child interaction, family well-being and developmental milestones.

Building relationships is key to our work. Whether we are building relationships at Howe School or in our parenting program, it is trust that must be established between our staff and the children and families. As a result of building relationships and trust, we are able to work positively together.
