Welcome! My name is Alexis and my journey with learning and practicing Charkra Healing began more than twelve years ago with my martial arts training. My education and usage of essential oils started over twenty years ago in Portland, Oregon. I have always turned to holistic healing for my wellness through massage, acupuncture, reiki, tea, essential oils, etc. It only made sense to share and help guide others on their journey to learning and listening to their own bodies. COMING SOON! I offer small group and individual crystal sound bath meditation sessions. The sessions help to relax your mind, remove negative energy, and bring the body back to a positive state. One-on-one sessions are specific to you with guidance to help balance your system.

The goal is to get people moving with limited equipment. This means it’s low cost but you still get the benefits of pilates.

The exercise band is a great prop or tool and comes in different resistance levels.

Prone!

Prone work is challenging!

Here I am prone on the long box with 1 blue spring. I often need to adjust where I hang onto the ropes and then once you feel you have a good length it’s time to move.

I keep my legs opened to hip distance which feels better on my lower back. Legs can do together down the center.

So many options when we are supine with arms in straps.

Move slow, make sure you are keeping your pelvis stable and your spine is attached to the carriage.

Pilates doesn’t have to be complicated!

All you need is a mat and a couple props to get started.

This is a snippet of a mat class with the pilates ball as the prop.

You can still do these without the ball.

Everything is connected and has its role in keeping your body safe while it moves.

When we look at this diagram, we see certain areas are for stability in others are for mobility.

Now think of it when we move in Pilates, let’s think about the thoracic spine. When we are in a Pilates class, our goal is to safely move the spine in all directions. This is rotation, flexion, extension, and lateral flexion.

The next time you are practicing Pilates in your own body envision where the movement is or originating from.

I see a lot of people asking on other social media platforms “why should I practice or start Pilates?”

Unfortunately, due to social media showing thin, skinny, perfectly dressed and extremely flexible women doing advanced movements creates the impression that Pilates is only for a specific group of people.

This couldn’t be further from the truth!

Pilates is for all bodies!
All ages!
Men & women!

If you sit or stand for the majority of the day for your job.

If you have an old or current injury.

If you have lower back pain.

If you are an athlete.

If you are a new mother.

And so on and so on.

These are all reasons to stay pilates.

Pilates will give you more flexibility, strength, balance and stability so everything you do outside of pilates is done safely.
