Medication Take Back Day

Milwaukee, Green Bay, Appleton to participate

Members of the public can dispose of expired prescriptions, including controlled substances, at select VA facilities, on VA Medication Take Back Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
โ€ข Friday, Oct. 24, at the Green Bay VA Clinic, 2851 University Ave., front entrance.
โ€ข Friday, Oct. 24, at the Appleton VA Clinic, 10 Tri Park Way, front entrance.
โ€ข Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, 5000 W. National Ave., East Entrance.

The public can drive through at the facility entrance to receive a pre-paid envelope used to dispose of medications through the U.S. postal service. They can also park and dispose of medications in the secure disposal receptacles at each facility.
VA is aligning with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for this initiative. Any member of the public is welcome, whether they have any affiliation to Veterans or not.

โ€œWe are pleased to welcome non-Veteran members of our community to the VA facilities for VA Medication Take Back Day. I encourage people to dispose of old and unused prescriptions in this safe and secure manner,โ€ said Milwaukee VA Police Chief Martin Runge.

โ€œItโ€™s important for each of us to clean out our medicine cabinets regularly and to dispose of medications to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our environment.โ€

Hey Oconto County! Thereโ€™s a measles outbreak in our area, and we want to keep you safe. Measles is super contagious, so hereโ€™s what you need to know:
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Immunity Info:
โ€ข If you were born before 1957, youโ€™re likely immune to measles and donโ€™t need a vaccine.
โ€ข If youโ€™ve had two doses of the MMR vaccine, youโ€™re protected.
โ€ข Not sure? Check your vaccine records or contact your care team!
๐Ÿ˜ท Symptoms to watch for:
โ€ข High fever (over 101ยฐF)
โ€ข Runny nose
โ€ข Cough
โ€ข Red, watery eyes
โ€ข A red rash with bumps that starts on the face and spreads to the body (usually 3-5 days after other symptoms)
๐Ÿฅ What to do: If you think you have measles symptoms, donโ€™t walk into a clinic or hospital. Call our triage line first for special instructions: 888-469-6614, option 3. This helps keep everyone safe.
๐Ÿ’‰ Get vaccinated: The MMR vaccine is the best way to prevent measles.
