Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀

Today we’re celebrating a little luck — and a lot of independence.

Because while finding a four-leaf clover might be lucky…
having the right supports, tools, and accessible communities shouldn’t have to be.

Wishing everyone a safe, fun, and festive St. Patrick’s Day!

🍀 May your day be full of good company, a little green, and maybe even a bit of luck.

As you’re bundled up and heading out to clear the snow, take a moment to notice where it’s going.
Would a wheelchair, walker, white cane, scooter, or stroller be able to get through?
Is it a safe path for everyone?

A few friendly reminders:
✅ Shovel sidewalks, curb ramps, and driveways—clear paths benefit everyone.
✅ Don’t pile snow where people need to roll or walk, in accessible spaces or near ramps —no one likes surprise snowbanks.
✅ Use salt or sand to prevent slippery spots. Make sure it's pet friendly if you need!
✅ Check on your neighbors—especially older adults and people with disabilities who may need a hand, a little help goes a long way.

Making winter accessible is a team effort. Stay safe!

3.14 — the number that goes on forever.
Kind of like our love for pie. 🥧 What’s your go-to pie flavor?

Apple. Cherry. Chocolate. Pumpkin.
Triple berry. Banana cream. Key lime.
We’re not choosing favorites today.

Just like pie, independence isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Everyone’s needs, supports, and paths to independence look a little different — and that’s something worth celebrating.

Pi (π) reminds us that some things may be constant, but life definitely isn’t one-size-fits-all.

So today we’re celebrating choice, independence… and a really good slice of pie.

Drop it in the comments your favorite!

The disability rights movement didn’t start yesterday — and the work continues today.

The rights many people benefit from today didn’t happen by accident.
They came from years of advocacy, organizing, and people with disabilities demanding to be seen, heard, and included.

Access to buildings.
Equal opportunity.
The right to live in the community.
The right to participate fully in society.

These changes happened because people spoke up, worked together, and refused to accept barriers as “just the way things are.”

The work isn’t finished.

At Options, advocacy continues every day — supporting individuals, educating communities, and working to remove barriers so everyone can live with choice, dignity, and independence.

Because disability rights are human rights. 💙

Paralympic Team USA Curling What a battle!

Congratulations to Laura Dwyer and Steve Emt for an incredible fight for bronze at the Paralympic Games. While they finished just outside the podium in fourth place, competing at this level takes extraordinary dedication, skill, and teamwork.

We’re especially proud to see Wisconsin represented, as both Laura and Steve practice in Madison. Seeing athletes from our state competing on the world stage is something truly special.

Finishing fourth in the world is an incredible accomplishment — and we’re cheering you loudly from home!

👏 Well done, Team USA! 🥌

You don’t know what you don’t know — and when benefits are involved, working can feel risky.

Many people with disabilities want to work, contribute, and build their independence — but fear losing healthcare, income, or essential supports.

That fear is real.
And it’s often based on missing or confusing information.

Options provides Work Incentives Benefits Counseling to help individuals understand how employment may impact their benefits — and what options exist.

When people have the right information, everything changes.

Knowledge replaces fear.
Choices become clearer.
And people can make decisions that are right for their lives.

Because work should open doors — not close them.

💬 If you or someone you know has questions about working while receiving benefits, Options is here to help.

🌍From local ice rinks to the Paralympic stage — adaptive sport shows what’s possible🏅

Every Paralympic Games reminds the world of something powerful: disability is not inability.

Athletes from across the globe train, compete, and push the limits of what the human body and spirit can do. Their dedication, skill, and determination redefine sport and challenge outdated assumptions about disability.

We’re especially proud to see athletes from Wisconsin represented on this international stage. We’re watching and cheering you on!

Events like the Paralympic Games highlight the importance of access, opportunity, and inclusive sport. When barriers are removed and adaptive equipment and supports are available, people with disabilities can pursue excellence just like anyone else.

At Options, we’ve seen firsthand how powerful inclusive recreation can be. The photo below is from a Learn to Curl event we hosted at the Green Bay Curling Club — where community members had the chance to try wheelchair curling and experience adaptive sport together.

From the track to the ice, the pool to the slopes — Paralympians remind us that ability comes in many forms.

💬 Who’s been watching the Paralympics? Do you have a favorite sport or athlete?
