Moringa and The Walk for Peace!
Happy Holidays Everyone!

Annie and I brought 2lb Moringa Tea and 2 dozen Moringa Energy Balls to theTibetan Monks 'Walk for Peace' in Montgimery, Alabama along with a gorgeous homemade Comfrey and Frakencense skin salve made and donated by a longtime Moringa John friend Kristen!

6.5 hours 1 way worth every mile...I stayed overnight for a special walk and prayer circuit thru Montgomery with prayers ending at the Capital steps. The Mayor amd State Representatives honored the venerable 18 monks and their support crews with proclamations! The news showed up, we heard Dharma talks, and were gifted red ribbon beaded bracelets to 'tie' us together with the walkers, many in just sandals and some barefooted, so we could continue to walk with them to Washington, DC in Spirit...2300 miles total and on day 60 finished, they are WALKING FOR PEACE AND KINDNESS ACROSS AMERICA!!

Playing with Moringa Energy Ball Recipes! IYKYK

The base of these energy snack bites is pureed sweet potato, apple sauce, banana, and peanut butter...from here use your imagination and don't forget the MORINGA! Form into balls and let set in the fridge overnight.

I used dark unsweetened chocolate with some semi-sweet morsels as a dip for half, then rolled in crushed pumpkin seed, roasted almond, and coconunt shreds, and plain!

ALL of these were delicious AND filling as an amazing healthy between meal snack (2 balls equal the daily initial 1TB consumption goal)!

Arctic Blast Tropical Moringa Best Practices Post:

If you haven't cut back your Tropical perennial Moringa Plants OR TREES yet, you have one more day before the huge arctic blast sweeps thru Sun/Mon!! YES, cut back your Moringa Trees too!!

It saves NOTHING of value by letting them stay thru colder temps. Take the ENTIRE plant or tree down to 1-2ft of main stalk (1 ft for intensive grows and 2 ft for trees), harvest the GREEN GOLD leaf, and store it either frozen or dried for the months of no production Fall/Winter weather ahead!

Personally, I don't cover in mulch or blankets or chicken wire wastes of time and materials! If its gonna freeze, its gonna freeze. The gain on growth or plant health DOES NOT IMPROVE!!

If you get some stalk flesh that does freeze, it will be obvious for sure, simply prune that frozen dead flesh off and give her a winter break. Easy peasy, go for the green gold!

ALL THE SPRINGTIME GROWTH IS MANAGED BY THE UNDERGROUND RHYZOME/ROOTBALL SYSTEM, AND MOST OFTEN NEW BRANCHES SHOOT UP FROM IT ANYWAY! Relax, Moringa knows what to do and how to recover better than we do.

My brother out in Pennsecola followed the simple directions about 2.5 years ago (pics to support), and his single baby plant turned into an 18 ft tall 8 main branch MONSTER, that got so bushy he trimmed it back once already, and just did his second cut back (final harvest) to the ground! IT'S GINORMOUS because he listens to Moringa John and doesn't change up the simple steps and adjustments needed to have explosive growth success! The rest of you all, uuuummmmmm, more skillful adjustments on the way, yes?!

Zone 9 End of Season
Moringa Management Post!

The marker for Moringa's final harvest in your grow region will always be temperature based. Below 65°F Moringa is at the end going dormant and 60°F and below, Moringa is dormant and will soon start shutting down evidenced by yellowing leaves. We want to capture maximum leaf before this occurs, which is why I teach 'Final Harvest' when temps under 65°F start to become the daily ave/norm.

ALL Moringa harvests are 100% harvest/processing events. Anything else is not optimum leaf production (proven over and over in field studies the last 30 years!) and thus not encouraged when growing Earths most nutrient dense anti-oxidant rich edible leaf! Why would you grow and share less than possible? So WHACK EM!

That means a total plant cutting leaving no more than 10" (again, based on hard science field trials) bald stalk in the ground no matter the plants age or size. Period. The first few times will feel wrong until your plants explode back again with bushier branching and more leaves again amd again! DO NOT LET YOUR PLANTS GET TALL LANKY AND WEAK! Stop it!

WE ARE LEAF FARMERS OUTSIDE THE TROPICS NOT TREE GROWERS! ONCE A YEAR OR PARTIAL HARVESTS FALL SO SHORT ITS IRRITATING. MAKE THEM BUSH ANS TRIPLE PRODUCTION BY FREQUENT FULL HARVEST EVENTS! Some of you are very hard of hearing...stop it!

Once harvested, DO NOT HEAT DRY, ie no dehydraters! Air dry (fans etc) in shaded areas/shelves etc turning the leaf to avoid moisture accumulating and molds forming...OR, place 8 oz fresh leaf in a 1gal ziplock bag, press out all the air flattening the leaf/bag and freeze them fresh!

Some stunningly medicinal amd powerful compounds are preserved when processing and keeping fresh leaf never allowing above 90°F for prolonged periods.

This harvesting should be repeated every 6-8 weeks in season providing maximum total leaf production per sq ft planted.

TREES DO NOT PRODUCE MORE LEAF PER SQ FT THAN PROPERLY DESIGNED GROWS! There is ZERO logical reason outside the Tropics to grow a Moringa tree...none.

We all should be trying to grow more leaf and share it far and wide until its in every school lunch, nursing home, hospital, and commercial production farm!

So NOW IS OUR TIME FOR FINAL TOTAL HARVESTS IN GROW ZONE 9! WHACK EM!
