Curiosity Never Retires at La Posada!

One of the questions people often ask us is:
“Do residents still have opportunities to learn and grow?”

At La Posada at Green Valley, the answer is always Yes.

Over the past couple of months, our residents have been feeding their curiosity through our Life of the Mind learning events. These experiences go far beyond lectures. They connect residents with local artists, historians, and cultural organizations while bringing the stories and the creative spirit of Southern Arizona to life.

Recently, our Life of the Mind group took an imaginative journey to the Rogue Theatre in Tucson to see Peter and the Starcatcher, a whimsical prequel to Peter Pan filled with adventure, pirates, mermaids, and flying crocodiles.

Before the group even stepped inside the theater, the founders of the Rogue team, Cynthia Meier & Joe McGrath, visited campus to give residents an insider’s look at how the play was produced and the story behind the performance. Armed with behind-the-curtain insights, residents headed to the theater in late January for a lively afternoon of stage magic and storytelling.

In addition, Life of Mind participants journeyed to the Benderly-Kendall Opera House to discover a new musical talent. Pianist Rie Tanaka entertained La Posada residents with her mastery of the 88 ivories on a vintage 1881 BlĂĽthner piano.

In March, Learning also took residents deep into the roots of our region. Historian and historical activist Mauro Trejo of Trejo’s Walking Tours visited La Posada to share the fascinating story of the Tucson Presidio (Presidio San Agustín del Tucson), founded in 1775.

Residents explored how this Spanish fort helped shape the future city of Tucson, including its relationships with local tribes and the geopolitical forces that influenced its creation. In 2025, the Presidio celebrated its 250th anniversary, making the history even more meaningful for those who call Southern Arizona home.

When the music starts and the dance floor calls… who’s your pick to dance with at La Posada?

Option A: Link arms with fellow La Posada residents for the legendary Oktoberfest Chicken Dance. Bonus points for enthusiastic flapping.

Option B: Bust a move with Bruce the Shark at our spooktacular Halloween party. Slightly toothy, very groovy.

Option C: Twirl with Mariachis at our Cinco de Mayo celebrations: rhythm, color, and a little extra sparkle in every step.

Drop your vote below: A, B, or C

Or be bold… tell us why.

Promotion Spotlight Today!

Please join us in celebrating Jennifer Martinez, who has been promoted to Assisted Living Front Desk & Resident Services Supervisor in La Posada’s Health Care neighborhood. 🎉

With 12 years of service, Jennifer’s journey reflects dedication, adaptability, and heart. She began as a receptionist in La Joya, advanced to an Administrative Assistant at La Hacienda, and returned to La Joya, where she has remained a steady, trusted presence for residents and staff alike.

Who helps with daily needs in Assisted Living?

Jennifer oversees resident services that keep life running smoothly, from daily and emergency work orders to move-ins, apartment turnovers, and resident transitions.

How did she support residents during emergencies?

During the onset of COVID-19, Jennifer stepped up at the front desk when uncertainty was highest. Working closely with leadership and following CDC and Arizona Department of Health Services guidance, she helped coordinate safety protocols and secure critical PPE when supplies were scarce. Her persistence helped protect residents and staff when it mattered most.

Who do residents turn to for help day-to-day?

Jennifer’s top three requests say it all:
• Daily and emergency work orders
• “What time is Bingo?” (and why it might be canceled)
• Tech to the rescue when TVs or computers go on strike

What’s next for Jennifer?

Jennifer will now assist with Assisted Living tours across La Joya, La Hacienda, and La Via, manage projects, and contribute to committees and team initiatives. Her energy, organization, and people-first approach continue to elevate the resident experience.

Congratulations, Jennifer! Thank you for the calm, care, and can-do spirit you bring to our Assisted Living neighborhoods every single day.

Staying strong is top priority for La Posada residents.

In 2025, La Posada residents logged an impressive 15,505 attendances in land and water fitness classes at the Pavilion.

That is a 12 percent increase in all fitness class attendance compared to 2024.

Let’s give our residents as many LIKES as we can to applaud their fitness journeys. 👏

Photo Capture of the Month at La Posada!

Lucky doesn’t always sparkle. Sometimes it arches quietly across the sky and lands right where you live.

Living Well’s Trish Velasquez caught this beautiful rainbow as it descended into the Pavilion Homes neighborhood at La Posada, and it feels like a good-fortune postcard from the desert sky.

Rainbows have always been symbols of luck, hope, and wonderful surprises. And if legends are right, what do you find at the end of the rainbow?

Belonging.
Connection.
Joy.
Discovery.
A sense of home.

Thank you, Trish, for capturing a little magic and reminding us how lucky we are to call this place home.

In the Lunar New Year tradition, the Fire Horse symbolizes curiosity, independence, energy, and a lifelong desire to explore what’s next.

At La Posada at Green Valley, curiosity isn’t just a trait. It’s a way of life.

When curiosity leads the way, something powerful happens:
• You try a new class
• You sit with someone new at lunch or dinner
• You ask questions, share stories, and discover common ground
• You turn neighbors into friends
• You build community without even realizing it

Your curiosity fuels connection.
Your connection creates friendships.
Your friendships create belonging.

That’s one of the great reasons people choose to live at La Posada Communities. This is a place where curiosity is welcomed, supported, and rewarded with meaningful relationships and shared experiences.

So as we honor the Year of the Fire Horse, we invite you to ask yourself:

What might your curiosity lead you to discover next?

Let your curiosity guide you. It just might lead you home.
