350 residents and off-campus volunteers came together on Sunday at La Posada for a Volunteer Appreciation Social—and what a celebration it was.

Here’s what our volunteers made possible in 2025:

• 23,908 hours volunteered ON campus by La Posada residents
• 18,325 hours volunteered OFF campus by La Posada residents
• 13,705 hours volunteered ON campus by off-campus volunteers

That’s a total of 55,938 hours of time, care, and connection.

At an estimated national value of volunteer time of $34.79 per hour, that generosity equals $1,946,083.02 given back to La Posada and the Green Valley–Sahuarita community.

You’ll find our volunteers everywhere—at the Vensel Treasure Shoppes, Posada Java, Resident Services, Resident Council and Committees, Adult Day Services, the Senior Lunch Program, Los Niños preschool, and throughout our assisted living neighborhoods.

But numbers only tell part of the story.

What volunteers truly give is friendship, purpose, new ideas from their life experiences, care for their work, and a sense of belonging that makes La Posada feel like home.

To our resident and off-campus volunteers—thank you. Your time means everything, and this community is stronger because of you.

Volunteer Appreciation post today!

The Vensel Treasure Shoppe runs on something pretty simple. People helping people.

In 2025, La Posada residents contributed 2,877 volunteer hours, along with 2,613 hours from off-campus volunteers. That’s a lot of time, energy, smiles, and teamwork.

Our 48 volunteers keep things moving Monday through Saturday across three shifts a day—supporting everything from sales, cashiering, customer service, and merchandising to data entry, back-end organization, and billing reconciliation.

What makes them especially valuable?

Experience.

Many have owned and cared for homes themselves, so when someone walks in looking for new furniture or décor, they don’t just point—they help. They offer ideas, perspective, and a good eye for what works.

Volunteering here is also one of the easiest ways to get connected—meet people, build friendships, and be part of something that matters.

Thank you to our Vensel Treasure Shoppe volunteers for everything you do to support our mission and for providing great customer service to the Green Valley-Sahuarita community.

What does life look like after you move to a retirement community?

It looks like mornings that start with a plan or no plan at all.
Coffee that turns into conversation
A walk that turns into laughter

It looks like saying “yes” more often.
To a class.
To lunch with neighbors.
To a concert.
To something unexpected that shows up in your day.
Volunteer for your favorite cause.

It feels like freedom from the things that used to fill your time and space for the things that actually fulfill you.

No home maintenance and no honey-do lists, no cooking.

More connection.
More movement.
More moments that catch you by surprise.
More freedom to do what you wish to do.

Because life here doesn’t slow down, it simply shifts into something lighter, fuller, and more joyful.

So, are you a Fire Horse yet?

In the Lunar New Year tradition, the Fire Horse symbolizes curiosity, independence, energy, and a lifelong desire to explore what’s next.

At La Posada at Green Valley, curiosity isn’t just a trait. It’s a way of life.

When curiosity leads the way, something powerful happens:
• You try a new class
• You sit with someone new at lunch or dinner
• You ask questions, share stories, and discover common ground
• You turn neighbors into friends
• You build community without even realizing it

Your curiosity fuels connection.
Your connection creates friendships.
Your friendships create belonging.

That’s one of the great reasons people choose to live at La Posada Communities. This is a place where curiosity is welcomed, supported, and rewarded with meaningful relationships and shared experiences.

So as we honor the Year of the Fire Horse, we invite you to ask yourself:

What might your curiosity lead you to discover next?

Let your curiosity guide you. It just might lead you home.

What are spontaneous events like in a retirement community?

Because sometimes your morning coffee comes with a side of live jazz.

The talented students of Continental Elementary School brought the rhythm to life with a surprise pop-up concert at the Shoppes at La Posada. These 7th- and 8th-grade musicians balance sports, academics, and the arts—and still show up to practice at 7 AM.

And yesterday? They turned that dedication into toe-tapping rhythms echoing across the La Posada campus.

From the bright, hopeful notes of Spring Will Come Again to the toe-tapping swing of Bugle Call Rag, the Colts filled the morning air with energy that had early risers stopping, smiling, and staying longer than planned.

Moments like this are the heartbeat of community living—unexpected, uplifting, and shared together. It’s experiences like these that turn an ordinary morning into something you look forward to.

These free performances don’t just showcase talent… they plant seeds of creativity across Green Valley–Sahuarita, while giving young musicians a real stage to grow their confidence.

Thank you, Jordan Figueroa and his students, for sharing your time, talent, and passion for the performing arts with our residents and visitors.

If joy had a roll call, it would bark, purr, squeak… and slowly stroll 🐢.

La Posada’s National Pet Day Cutest Pet Contest turned into a full-blown celebration of our furrever friends—and wow, did they show up in style!

- 75 adorable pet photos
- 44 team members joined the fun and submitted photos
- 10 judges had the toughest job ever (seriously… how do you choose?!)

And after much tail-wagging deliberation, here are our champions:

🥇 Mia (Pitbull) – stealing hearts one wag at a time
🥈 Cooper (Golden Retriever) – golden in both name and personality
🥉 Trophy (Bichon Frise) – living up to the name with fluff and flair

Honorable mentions for the most unique: a guinea pig named Chonk Norris and Gertrude the tortoise… proving cuteness comes in all speeds and sizes.

From loyal sidekicks to tiny companions, these pets remind us that the best kind of friendship doesn’t need words—just a wag, a nuzzle, or a quiet presence at the end of the day.

Thank you, La Posada HR team for sharing your contest and photos with our digital peeps.
