A little behind the scenes of preparing PDGF-BB for hair restoration.
If you have ever heard of PRP for hair loss, the idea is similar. Both treatments use growth factors to support the hair follicle environment and encourage follicles to stay in the growth phase.
PRP works by drawing your blood, concentrating the platelets, and injecting the platelet-rich plasma into the scalp. Those platelets release signaling proteins, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), that help stimulate follicle activity.
PDGF-BB delivers one of those same key growth factors directly in a purified and standardized form.
Instead of relying on the variable amount of growth factors your body produces in PRP, this approach provides a consistent, targeted dose to the scalp.
Another difference is comfort. Most patients find this treatment much more comfortable than traditional PRP injections.
Growth factors like PDGF are known to stimulate dermal papilla cells and support the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle.
Hair growth takes time, but supporting the follicle environment is where it begins.
