To close out National Kidney Month, we’re highlighting the important role nutrition can play in managing kidney disease and the power of early awareness. 🧡

In our latest blog, Mirza Baig, MD, MBA, FACP, FASN, board-certified nephrologist at Hancock Health, shares how personalized nutrition support can help reduce stress on the kidneys and support long-term health. Dr. Baig recently shared, “Good nutrition isn’t just about eating healthier—it’s about reducing stress on the kidneys and helping preserve function for as long as possible. Even small, consistent dietary changes can make a meaningful difference.” 💬

With more than 35 million Americans living with chronic kidney disease, and many unaware they have it, early screening, education, and sustainable lifestyle changes matter. At Hancock Health, Dr. Baig and our care team are committed to helping patients take charge of their kidney health through specialized care, nutrition guidance, and personalized support close to home.

Olivia Munn’s story is a powerful reminder that knowing your risk can make all the difference. 🧡

When she shared how the Tyrer-Cuzick test helped uncover her breast cancer risk, it opened the door to an important conversation: breast health is not one-size-fits-all. While mammograms remain essential, tools like personalized risk assessments can provide a more complete picture of your health.

At Hancock Health, we’re committed to helping women feel informed, supported, and empowered at every step. Our new blog explores what Olivia Munn’s experience teaches us about breast cancer risk, why early awareness matters, and how resources like the Tyrer-Cuzick test can help guide more personalized care. 🩺

🧡 Meet Kristina Place, FNP-C, a family nurse practitioner at Hancock Health dedicated to helping patients feel better through compassionate, collaborative care ➡️ hancockhealth.org/doctor/kristina-place-fnp-c. 🔗

Kristina always knew she wanted to work in medicine, but it was the inspiration of another nurse practitioner that helped her discover her calling. After 10 years as an RN, she earned her NP degree from University of Indianapolis and now brings that experience and heart to patients across our community.

With specialties in preventative medicine, nutrition and fitness, women’s health, and pediatrics, Kristina is passionate about listening closely, building trust, and making sure every patient feels like part of their own care plan. 🩺

She says one of the best parts of working at Hancock Health is the people and the supportive environment that make it such a special place to serve.

When she’s not at work, Kristina enjoys time with friends and family, reading, strength training, running, traveling, and tap dancing whenever she can.

We’re proud to have Kristina on the Hancock Health team! 🌟
