Proud to see the Community Health Center of Franklin County (CHCFC) recognized during the Massachusetts Public Health Excellence Tour for its incredible commitment to rural health and access to care.
When North Quabbin Family Physicians closed earlier this year, CHCFC stepped up — welcoming more than 600 new patients and expanding vital services. The team also opened a pharmacy and dental practice in Orange, ensuring local residents can continue getting the care they need close to home.
As Secretary Dr. Kiame Mahaniah noted during his visit, CHCFC embodies what public health excellence looks like: collaboration, compassion, and community-driven care.
Kudos to Allison van der Velden, Dr. Stephen Segatore, Maria Heidenreich, and the entire CHCFC team for leading the way toward a healthier, more equitable Western Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Kiame Mahaniah visited three western Massachusetts towns on Monday to see firsthand the Healey-Driscoll administration's investment in local and rural public health shared-service hubs through Public Health Excellence grants.

Great things are happening in Western Franklin County! 🚐
A new mobile health clinic is now serving families at the Mohawk Trail Regional School campus one week each month — thanks to an incredible collaboration between the Community Health Center of Franklin County, the Mary Lyon Foundation, and the Mohawk Trail Regional School District.
This effort is a shining example of how creative partnerships can expand access to care in rural areas. By bringing health services directly to the community, we’re breaking down barriers and helping more people get the support they need, right where they are.
Grateful to see local leaders and organizations working together to make healthcare more equitable and accessible for all.

The Community Health Center of Franklin County, the Mary Lyon Foundation and the Mohawk Trail Regional School District have partnered to bring a mobile health van to western Franklin County, offering health services to residents who are unable to travel to other areas with doctors' offices.
