On Nov 25th several of us from FootCare by Nurses are marching from Deerfield to Greenfield to raise money for the Food bank of Western MA. We ask that you Please donate
As many of you know the SNAP benefits have been cut off to millions of people just as we are going into winter. The people i know who are on SNAP are elderly, have worked their whole lives and raised families. In Massachusetts, SNAP also allows people access to HIP ($40/ month) which is greens, veggies and fruits from our local farmers.
By donating to the food bank money goes further (buying power). People need help, not charity. Healthy food is medicine and the Food Bank does a really amazing job of helping those in need.
Join me in supporting The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts!

Lead by a Doctor Nurse
It is a beautiful thing when patients celebrate with you. These gorgeous flowers were brought in today by two patients today who love our work and what we stand for - a mission for prevention and a passion for caring. The flowere were to celebrate my graduating as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (from UMass).
FootCare by Nurses will continue to focus on being a scientifically based nursing practice that prevents falls, wounds, pain, and amputations from happening and the hope is that this degree will open up more opportunities for us and attract more great nurses to our fold.

Speaking about the importance of the foot / calf pump in health. It’s the second heart and is 40% of your cardiac blood flow. It’s not just about walking it’s about releasing tension so that blood/lymph can flow.

This is from S- who is the manager aif an aging service acess point - His plea is a reflection of all the ASAPs.
The ASAPs are amazing organizations in Massachusetts who oversee the care of older and vulnerable adukts in MA. They maje sure the care agencies are in compilance, they work with insurance to get peole the care they need, they are the meals in wheels people and they are also the people wjk help personal care attendants be compensated. MA has more people over 65 than under 65. And care givers need to be compensateded too. Without this bill what would elder care in MA look like? I can personally live with a pot hole or two knowing that thousandds of elders are receiving a little bit of care.
The money he talks about would be reallocated from the infrastructure bill so anyone whose livelihood is bridge/ road construction will be impacted ( including the police who do road duty).
This is a tough choice. Elder well being verses those who have families to support.
in my opinion (and I may be wrong) those who have families to support and who are healthy have more choices and options for work than those elders we take care of.
Agreed, these choices suck
And we all know that someone has to stay home to take care of grandma and it’s not going to be the bridge building guy - (he needs to find work). It’s going to be the wife or daughter or teenage son or his time
after overtime. It’s not fair, but it is where we are.
To be honest, it’s going to be a burden on the whole family. I therfore urge you to support the bill so that the PCAs and caregivers can be compensated and make meaningful contribution to family economics while also taking care of a loved one. Please encourage your patients to speak up as well.
From S-
As you may be aware, the ASAP network has been heavily impacted by a substantial budget deficit – the governor has requested a 60 million dollar supplemental budget to remedy this. Our access to this funding directly impacts our ability to support our aging adults in the community, inlcuding the amount of hours we’re able to authorize for your caregivers to provide and the number of consumers we can roster.
We thank you in advance for your collaboration here.

Do you have corns, calluses, painful feet, long toenails or fungal nails? Would you like to not have a bunion or a hammer toe? Please don’t let someone tell you that calluses or pain in your feet or toes is just normal; it is not. At FootCare by Nurses we not only do nail and skin care, we also take the time to help you understand how you, your feet, your skin and your shoes and socks can work better, so that you can be better balanced, avoid pain, corns and calluses, or worse yet, hammer toes, bunions or wounds. Our goal is to have you feel very comfortable and safe in your shoes and have very very happy feet.
Our story - Tired of seeing substandard and overlooked foot care, I started this business in 2016 to get people the quality foot care that I thought people deserved. I set out with the Mission of FootCare by Nurses being prevention and our passion is being caring. Out of the gate I decided to take a very holistic and natural, inexpensive no nonsense approach to providing foot care. Using evidence based practice, some tried and true non-pharmacological treatments and some pretty advanced power tools I created this company to bring feet back into the realm of normal, happy and healthy. I also am a huge believer in sharing nursing knowledge so that you understand what is going on for you.
I outgrew the sum of myself and now have a team of 6 fantastic certified Foot Care Nurses out in the field. I taught them to drink my Koolaid and they love what they do. During the week they can be found at our clinic in Greenfield, and at many area senior centers and councils on aging. They also do a lot of home visits.
Diabetic, chronic illness and elder appropriate, but also suitable for anyone who wants to obtain knowledge about having healthy feet, all of our nurses are nationally board certified through the American Association of Foot Care Nurses (AAFCN) in lower limb and foot care. They have also received additional trainings in a multitude of therapeutic touch techniques, so that they are able to provide an appropriate, great circulation enhancing massage. While we don’t do nail polish our nurses are experts in lower limb assessments, nail care, skin care, wound prevention and shoe and sock fitting. They also can help you not have those ingrown nails.
FootCare by Nurses is an affordable alternative to podiatry and nails salons. Our nurses use their nursing knowledge and skills to provide a very high and consistent standard of both nursing and foot care that is unmatched in this area. In both our clinics and home visits our appointment times are at least 1/2 hour so that you, or your loved one, can receive the person centered care and explanations that you, and your feet deserve.
If you are receiving LifePath of WMEC services you can request our services directly through your caseworker. Alternatively you can find our nurses at many area senior centers and councils on aging. We are also happy to do a home visit. N addition we are also honored to be invited to talk about foot health, balancing on feet, falls prevention and good foot care. Please feel free to share us with friends, family and caregivers.
With Gratitude - Kate Clayton-Jones MSN RN CFCN CFCS Founder and active FootCare Nurse.
