isWe’re growing thanks to YOU, Hancock County! 👁️✨

Because of the incredible support from our community, Hancock Eye Associates is expanding our hours to five days per week at each location as we welcome a new doctor to our team — Dr. Nick Earls!

Dr. Earls has a passion for optometry because of the life-changing impact vision care can have. From helping brain injury patients relearn to walk to treating dry eye patients who thought they might never read comfortably again, he’s dedicated to improving patients’ quality of life through better vision.

With special interests in dry eye treatment, medical optometry, and pediatric eye care, Dr. Earls is excited to bring his experience and advanced care to patients in both our McCordsville and Greenfield offices.

Originally from Bedford, Indiana, Dr. Earls studied chemistry at the University of Southern Indiana before earning his optometry degree from Indiana University. His career has taken him from volunteering on VOSH optometry trips, to caring for active-duty military families at Fort Campbell, to providing eye care in remote Alaskan villages, and even traveling to 19 countries around the world!

Now he and his wife Judy, their two children, and two goldendoodles are happy to call the Indianapolis area home.

We’re grateful for the continued support from our patients and community that allows us to grow and expand access to eye care. 💙

✨ Get to Know Dr. Christa ✨

🌍 Mission-Driven Care
Dr. Christa has participated in four mission trips to Kenya and India over the past 11 years, where her group sees an average of 3,000 patients per trip. She describes the experience as both rewarding and humbling — and a powerful reminder of why she chose healthcare.

🎓 Education & Roots
Originally from Wi******er, Indiana, Dr. Christa earned her Biology degree from Boise State University and graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2001.

💍 Family First
She married her high school sweetheart, and this year they celebrated an incredible 30th wedding anniversary with a special trip to Maine.

🎨 Artistic at Heart
Dr. Christa studied art in college and still loves to paint and draw in her spare time. She says art is the perfect opposite of optometry — and a wonderful way to unwind and release stress.

🏈 Proud Football Mom
One of her favorite things is watching her son play football. It was an especially memorable year for New Pal Football, as her son Abe’s senior season was nothing short of amazing.

⛷️ Ski Lover
She’s been skiing since her early 20s, first learning while in college in Idaho. Her annual New Year’s ski trip is a favorite tradition — though she jokes she may be retiring from the black diamonds.

🐾 Cat Enthusiast
Dr. Christa loves cats of all kinds and has two sweet brothers, Simba and Grazy. While she adores them, she’s not a fan of their occasional bird-hunting habits.

✨Meet the team: Dr. Brett Schrank✨

1. World Traveler Vibes 🌍
Dr. Brett once lived on a Greek island during a month-long college study abroad, has visited Japan twice, and most recently took himself on a solo adventure to Seattle to hike Mt. Rainier and the Cascades. Basically… if there’s a mountain, he will climb it.

2. Cat Dad Level: Elite 😻
He’s a proud cat dad to two adorable kitties — 8-year-old Mako and 5-year-old Lucy. Fun story: Mako was not amused when Lucy “fell from the sky” (aka squirmed out of Dr. Brett’s arms) during her chaotic introduction.

3. Jeopardy Enthusiast 🧠✨
He’s a trivia lover who tries to catch Jeopardy whenever he can. In optometry school, he even competed in a Jeopardy-style Quiz Bowl and helped lead Indiana University into the top 8. Brainy AND competitive.

4. Certified Science Nerd 🔬🤓
He loves reading and learning, especially anything science-related. The man casually reads math textbooks and astrophysics explainers… for fun. Yes — for fun.

5. Gamer at Heart 🎮
If you couldn’t already tell he’s a lovable nerd: his all-time favorite video game is Old School RuneScape… which he’s been playing for 23 years. Loyalty = unmatched.

✨ Meet the Team: Dr. Nick McColley ✨
Owner • Optometrist • Former “Basketball Player” (depending who you ask)

1️⃣ He played basketball at New Palestine High School… though his coach insists he “only played between the three three-point lines.” (We think this means he avoided the paint like it was hot lava.)

2️⃣ He’s obsessed with German Shorthaired Pointers. He’s had three of them and will talk dogs with anyone who asks.

3️⃣ His grandfather was born in 1898 in Macedonia, which basically means Dr. McColley has cooler ancestry than the rest of us.

4️⃣ His first job out of school was in East Texas, where he practiced in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma depending on the day—giving him experience with a wide variety of procedures thanks to each state’s different laws.

5️⃣ He met his wife, Lauren, when he was 15, proving he has great vision in more ways than one. 👀❤️
