Its time for another round of "3 truths and a lie." Can you spot the lie in regards to acupuncture? Correct answers gain a raffle ticket for our Patient Appreciation Day event!

1. Despite involving needles, the needles used are so thin (about the width of a human hair) that you could fit roughly 40 of them inside the tip of a standard syringe used for a flu shot.

2. In the 1984 Olympics, the Soviet Union tried to ban "Ear Seeds" (tiny beads taped to the ear) because they claimed the constant stimulation of the "Aggression Point" gave Western wrestlers an unfair, adrenaline-fueled advantage.

3. There is a famous acupuncture point on the corner of the pinky toe (specifically Urinary Bladder 67) that is clinically used to encourage a "breech" baby (one that is upside down in the womb) to do a somersault and flip into the correct position.

4. When "Ötzi the Iceman," a 5,300-year-old mummy, was discovered in the Alps, he had tattoos located precisely on traditional acupuncture points used to treat back pain and digestive issues—suggesting the practice is thousands of years older than we thought.
