My OB/GYN and employer for {16} years. The man that cut Isabella out of my womb and placed onto my chest. The man who believed that I would be a Mom, when the reality and statistics were against me. The man I could confide in, trust, respected, and loved for all these years, retired today. We celebrated and said our goodbyes, then just like that, he was gone. No more morning greetings or goodnight evenings. No more questioning what “ride” he would roll up in, and no more rattling of his endless keys on his keychain as he strolled in with that dang bookbag in tow. A beach bum and wine enthusiast are his newest titles, but he will always be Richard J. Taavon, MD to me. A true 𝙻𝙴𝙶𝙴𝙽𝙳 says it best. From 1996-2025 he dedicated his life to women's health, prenatal care, and delivering babies into the world. I am abundantly blessed for the time we had together💙

Expecting? We are too! The opening of our new birthing center at Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center is right around the corner. Moms-to-be can rest easy knowing that their birthing choices, whatever they are, will be supported.

In preparation of the grand opening, nurse manager Jessica Thornton has worked to build a team of experienced ob-gyns, anesthesiologists, nurse midwives and nurses. They have more than 250 years of experience combined and will work together to elevate the birth experience and bring world-class care to expectant parents here in the Triad.

All good things must come to an end…

|37| dedicated & compassionate years with Wendover OB/Gyn is coming to a end this Friday. It is more than bittersweet, but this exceptional Nurse Practitioner is retiring. She happens to be my very first gynecologist, my colleague, mentor, and friend. Beth Lane, NP, you have served our community with the upmost respect and professionalism, and we are forever grateful for you and the care you provided to our patients. Now go soak up the sun in Wilmington, go golfing with Dad, and live this retirement journey to its fullest. I love you, Beth! Congratulations!
