❤️Our hearts are heavy this week as we grieve alongside our community following the tragic loss of a child who eloped and drowned. We extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and all who loved this sweet child.
As a pediatric therapy clinic, we know how deeply this loss is felt not only by those closest to the child but by the entire autistic community. Elopement — the sudden wandering or running away from safe spaces — is a very real concern for many families of autistic children. It can happen unexpectedly, even with the most vigilant care, and it is one of the most frightening challenges families face.
To the family walking through this unimaginable loss, we hold you in our thoughts, our prayers, and our hearts. To our autistic clients and their families, please know that we see you, we understand the weight of these fears, and we are committed to continuing to provide care, support, and advocacy.
This loss is profound, and we mourn together as a community that treasures the lives, voices, and futures of all children. 💙
