🤩I'm so proud of my first batch of kombucha! It is full of probiotics and antioxidants, which help my family stay healthy. It also may help prevent diseases like heart disease and others. Oh, by the way, it tastes excellent! Here's how I did it:
I boiled six bags of black tea in about five quarters of water. It simmered for 8 minutes. After it cooled, I poured it into my large glass container and added 1/2 cup of organic cane sugar. Then I laid my SCOBY on top of the tea for ten days. It needs to breathe, so I put a paper towel over it while it sat on the counter. It's delicious. Let me know if you try it too.

Here is a staggering statistic: 1 out of 5 women will die from heart disease in the US. Did you know that only a little over half of the women know this information? As a health coach, I feel obligated to share these facts with you. Lifestyle plays an enormous role in heart disease. Your mind, body, and energy need to be nurtured. Why I became a health coach! First and foremost I want women to feel heard and whole in their minds, bodies, and souls.
Perhaps you don't know my story, so here it is, but I'll make it brief. About 25 years ago, there was a friendly divide among my friends, which diet was better, Atkins or Vegan. I tried veganism (now a plant-based diet) and never experienced more energy, clarity in thinking, and motivation in my life. Flash forward: I went to a retreat about 12 years ago when my insomnia had reached an all-time high. I told the cook that my doctor recommended no gluten-free. As a result, the cook didn't give me any meat either. By day three, I was sleeping through the night.

Food and my gift as a deep listener lead me straight to becoming a health coach. I want women to experience the changes in the mind, body, and spirit through what food and being compassionately heard can make in their life. I got the training I needed from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and graduated in 2013. I've been coaching and facilitating for over a decade now. It's the best thing I've ever done and continue to do to this day.

Time is sacred and special. Each moment brings freshness and brilliance. There are moments in every woman's life when it's time for transition. I've seen it in my own life, the lives of my clients, and even in my children, from hormonal changes to relationship changes to job changes, and so many other changes. No one is immune to transition, but we do get to choose how to handle it even if it seems that we don't. Many of us can see two choices with any circumstance, but do you take time to see the third? When you are quietly present, a third choice can emerge. Sometimes it's the third choice that opens all the doors.

RIP Thich Nhat Hanh. May your message of compassion and peace carry on through many of us who admired you and appreciated your books.

You are not alone in this quest for compassion and peace, although at times in your life, it may seem like it. I have been in meditation and prayer for over 25 years. I've spent countless hours over these years wrestling with "letting go" and "surrender." Meditation is the foundation of peace within, and these last 15 months of my life are a testament to this truth. Peace within yourself is the beginning of peace outside yourself. Peace within will outlast any storm (or multiple storms at once).

It's mid-week, what is your win and what has been hard? They exist as two sides of the same coin. Life isn't all or nothing. For days, months or years you could be living on the win side. When you're on the hard side, one thing you can remember is that you'll get to the win side again in time. Be patient with yourself and be especially kind to yourself. You are worthy!
