The Triad Yoga Institute was established in 1999 by co-owners Terry Brown and Jerry Cunningham. We have come a long way since our first studio opened on South Elm Street in downtown Greensboro, moving and expanding our studio space to our present location on West Market Street in January, 2011. We are fortunate to have many of the best yoga intructors in the area teaching at TYI, offering a variety of classes for every student of yoga from beginner to advanced. We also offer speciality yoga classes including Gentle, Stretch, Flow and Therapeutics and Exercise. An upheld philosophy here at Triad Yoga is one of compassion, seeing the needs of the individual as the highest priority. We address physical needs and offer tools for the mind and spirit. Our 200 hr and 500 hr teaching training programs are recognized by Yoga Alliance. The Triad Yoga Insitute's short history is now blended into the long 6000 year history of yoga, and for that we are proud.

Join us for Yoga Studies on Nov 5 at 5:30pm for Yoga and Fall Prevention!

As people age, their balance and speed of gait decreases. When they walk too fast or when they don’t pick up their toes they put themselves at risk. Some elders get very limited exercise that may not always address improving functional strength, stability and balance. Also, with aging comes a fear of falling, leading to decrease physical activity and movement, causing them to lose balance and strength, which puts them at greater risk for falls. Yoga, with its gentle movements, can address known fall risk factors and focus on increased awareness and proprioception. During yoga, the mind is encouraged to focus on what is occurring in the body and where the body is in space, increasing both awareness and proprioception. All Levels.

Join us for Yoga Studies on October 29 at 5:30pm for Deep Relaxation.

In order to relax completely, we have to peel away layers of stress and open up places in the body that hold tension. As we relax, we are able to access the deep level of the subconscious mind and consciously affect a positive change, create healing, and reverse negative conditioning. We can use this state to release unwanted damaging, distracting, and disturbing thought patterns. All Levels.

In our Yoga Studies class tonight at 5:30pm, we are practicing a MELT Method Sequence for the Entire Body! Don’t miss this!

The goal of myofascial release is to ease pressure in the fascia system so that the fascia becomes lubricated with hyaluronic acid, a substance that our bodies produce naturally. Hyaluronic acid al lows fascia to glide smoothly over muscles and tendons. When the body has become void of this flu id, the tissue becomes dehydrated resulting in stress, injury, poor posture, and pain. The MeltMethod incorporates rehydrate techniques aim to “revitalize and rehydrate” connective tissue and relieve ten sion in our bodies using gentle compression and lengthening techniques. To participate in this class via Zoom, you must have the MeltMethod Soft Foam Roller. All levels.

Trikonasana or Triangle Pose is a standing posture that engages the entire lower body, including the legs and hips. The pose also requires a deep stretch of the spine, which can help to strengthen the muscles in the back and shoulders. Additionally, the arm that extends upward helps to open the chest and improve posture. By holding the posture for several breaths, the muscles in the legs, hips, back, shoulders, and chest are strengthened, leading to increased stability and mobility in these areas.
