Yes they ask a lot of questions however they are getting help on the way while asking those questions. Be patient with them. They not only answer the phone when you're in a crisis, they are trained to coach you through that crisis until help arrives.
Happy National Public Telecommunicators Week!
National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026) was initially established in 1981 by Patricia Anderson, a 9-1-1 telecommunicator of the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office in California. It was started to recognize the critical, often unseen role of 9-1-1 professionals, the FIRST first responders.
You are the literal voice of public safety, but you are so much more than just a voice, more than just a three-digit number, more than just a hero in the seat. You are human, doing some pretty superhuman things most days.
And you are seen. You are valued.
We celebrate you this week and every single day.
From all of us at ThisGen 911, thank you for your tireless, selfless, and unwavering service to the communities you serve.
