💜 Honoring Women’s History Month 💜

This month we celebrate the strength, resilience, and impact of women throughout history and in our everyday lives. Women are leaders, caregivers, healers, change-makers, and advocates in their families and communities.

At Peace of HOPE, we also recognize the importance of women’s mental health. Many women carry heavy responsibilities while navigating stress, trauma, expectations, and life transitions. Taking care of your mental and emotional well-being is not selfish — it’s necessary.

This month we encourage every woman to:
• Prioritize her mental health
• Give herself grace
• Seek support when needed
• Embrace healing and self-care

Your story matters. Your healing matters. Your voice matters.

Together, let’s continue to break the stigma around mental health and create spaces where women feel seen, supported, and empowered. 💜

March is Self-Injury Awareness Month 🧡

At Peace of Hope, we believe healing begins with honest conversations.

Self-injury (non-suicidal self-injury or NSSI) is when someone harms their body as a way to cope with emotional pain. It is not “attention-seeking.” It is often a sign that someone is carrying more than they know how to express.

Let’s Talk Facts :
• About 1 in 5 adolescents report engaging in self-injury.
• It most commonly begins between ages 12–15.
• Many individuals suffer in silence due to shame and stigma.
• While self-injury is different from su***de, it increases risk for suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Behind the behavior is often:
– Unprocessed trauma
– Anxiety or depression
– Emotional numbness
– A need for relief from overwhelming feelings

At Peace of Hope, we advocate for:
✨ Education over judgment
✨ Compassion over criticism
✨ Support over silence

If you or someone you know is struggling, you do not have to face it alone.

📞 Call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Capacity building is not just about the operations of an organization today–it’s an investment in the growth and effectiveness of the organization into the future, ultimately allowing these organizations to scale their engagement with the communities they serve.

Mental Health Monday 🖤

As we close out Black History Month

Let’s talk about Black mental health.

Mental health in the Black community doesn’t always look the way people expect. It doesn’t always show up as someone saying, “I’m not okay.”

Sometimes it looks like:
• Being the strong one for everyone else
• Pushing through exhaustion because “we don’t quit”
• Laughing in public and crying in private
• High blood pressure, chronic stress, and burnout
• Spiritualizing pain but never processing it
• Survival mode disguised as strength

Black mental health deserves:
✨ Safe spaces
✨ Culturally competent care
✨ Honest conversations
✨ Compassion without judgment
✨ Permission to rest

At POH, we see you.
We understand the layers — the stigma, the expectations, the systemic stress, the family roles, the “strong Black woman” and “man up” narratives.

And we are here.

Here to educate, to advocate, to create spaces where healing is normal.
Here to remind you that strength also means asking for support.

Mental Health Mondays 🧠

Mental Health Fact:
Self-care is not a luxury—it’s a protective factor for mental health and emotional resilience.

Rest, boundaries, and asking for help are essential parts of maintaining mental wellness. Taking care of yourself allows you to show up fully for others and your community.
