As you may have heard through recent national news stories, there is currently a significant shortage of the chemotherapy medication preservative-free methotrexate in the United States. This drug is critical to the treatment of children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Unless production of preservative-free methotrexate increases, hospitals will run out of the medication completely in the days and weeks ahead.
YOU CAN HELP IN TWO WAYS
Contact the following pharmaceutical companies who produce methotrexate and ask them to:
Prioritize the production of the preservative-free form of methotrexate.
Consider working with the FDA to import preservative-free methotrexate if sources are available.

Cody Weinell and Jimmy Gulibon (both seniors at Derry) are doing their senior project to support pediatric cancer research through an amazing foundation, Cancer Free Kidz. They are selling t-shirts to be worn at the Southmoreland vs Derry wrestling match (also sr. night and a white out) for $10. The shirts are white with royal blue lettering. The shirts cost... $10 and ALL proceeds go to Cancer Free Kidz. I know it's Christmas and money is tight for everyone, but just think...you'll be helping lots of kids! Less than 2% of governement funding goes towards pediatric cancer research! Let's help them out! If you're interested in purchasing t-shirt please let me know! Friends -- This summer I met a special little girl from Ligonier Maggie Elder -- she had some hip pain that started when she was training for a 5K race. Unfortunately I had to tell her mom and dad that she had a rare and aggressive childhood bone cancer. I have been privileged to be part of a group organizing a 5K run/walk for Maggie on Oct 23rd at Antiochian Village in Ligonier. This will be a celebration and a community showing Maggie that she is not alone in her fight. The day begins with a Christian service from 1 - 1:30, a balloon release at 1:30 and 5K at 2pm. There will be music, food, a Chinese and silent auction and games for children. PLEASE come out that day and show your support. All money raised will be going directly to Maggie's care. Race registrations can be found at www.jackieslocker.com or www. valleyschoolofligonier.org. The sooner you can send the forms in the better (so we know how many shirts to order)!! I look forward to seeing you there. Also please re-post on your page so get the word out to as many people as we can.

Proceeds benefit pediatric cancer research at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh--Tickets just $10--Food included! $1 Beers and $1 Mixed Drinks! Saddle Up plays 7-10pm Doors open at 6!
