Margaret “Meg” Brecht, of Saltsburg, passed away in the morning hours on January 18, 2026, in her home. Meg was born in Greensburg, PA on July 15, 1959, a daughter of the late James and Helen (Sefton) Bell. Meg was one of four siblings, including her big brothers Skip and Rick and her little sister Nancy, all of whom she is survived by. She grew up with church, music, and the antics of an early 70s neighborhood - memories that meant a lot to her. Music held a special place in every chapter of her life. Meg graduated from Hempfield Senior High School and later obtained a degree from Business Careers Institute. Over the years, Meg worked in various fields. Her jobs taking care of others were the most fulfilling to her. Meg was mom to daughter Elizabeth and son Frank, and loved them with all that she had, through thick and thin. In her passing, they hold dearly to the fact that she never held back from telling them that she was so proud of them. In 1995, when Meg met her husband, Tom, it was destined to be. Each was missing something until finding the other. They were married on the sand at Topsail Island, North Carolina surrounded by family. They found a great deal of happiness in many simple things, enjoying their home, family, and time together. Tom & Meg were best friends and soulmates. Her sudden passing, preceding him in death, has left a hole that can’t be filled. For the last 16 years, Meg found pure joy in being Mimi to her grandchildren Cole, Bennett, and Elyse. There was nothing in their lives, large or small, that she wasn’t excited to be a part of, and she was there for it all. She was their number one fan. All who knew Meg will remember her kind heart. She loved family holidays and summer pool parties. A bit of a hippie at heart, Meg embodied acceptance and love. She never missed a chance to catch a pretty sky, most especially to catch fireworks in the summertime. She loved her dog, Bella. The beach was her happy place. She will be missed every single day. Her impact will never be forgotten. In addition to all of those mentioned above, Meg is survived by many others who meant a lot to her. More than just a son-in-law, Jonathon was her trusted friend. Meg also had brothers and sisters-in-law whom she loved dearly, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. There will be a public viewing held at BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg on Thursday, January 22nd from 3pm - 6pm, including a short service. A private ceremony will be held at a later date, where a memorial will be placed at St. James Church Cemetery in Saltsburg in alignment with Meg’s wishes.
