Westmoreland County Blind Association

Westmoreland County Blind Association The WCBA provides services and programs for individuals with visual, intellectual and physical disabilities.

Since 1948, the Westmoreland County Blind Association’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for the sight impaired and physically challenged individuals as well as to assist in the prevention of blindness. To fulfill this mission, WCBA provides services and programs to individuals that enhance productivity and independence; and educates the community about eye disease, damage prevention and detection. WCBA offers a variety of retail products and business services- from document destruction to manufacturing. All proceeds from these services are used to fund programs that benefit the individuals we serve.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all you ghosts & goblins! This year’s Halloween party was a chilling success! Our consumers & staff showed off their amazing costumes in the parade, enjoyed a spooky lunch, and then shared their haunting skills during our favorite event, the annual talent show. Special thanks to PA State Rep. Eric Nelson for making a guest appearance as only he knows how, in a T-Rex costume! It was a day full of laughter, treats, and community spirit — a boo-tiful celebration for all!

Day 2 of our National Week for Choice. Today’s theme is “There’s No Place Like Home”. Today our work family threw a BIG surprise 50th birthday party for our dear friend Brett. He was so surprised and the best part was his mom was here to celebrate it with us. Brett has been attending our facility fo 37 years and he often comments how much WCBA feels like his second home. Please join us in wishing him a very happy 50th birthday!!! ❤️

October is National Month for Choice. This week we will be celebrating each day with a theme that represents and supports the lives of those we serve. Today is Mission Monday where we promote and advocate for our consumers right for choice. We have been blessed with the generous support of all of our local legislators who help speak on our behalf in support of our agency.

This recognition is a very special honor to receive. We are so proud of Luke and all of his hard work at WCBA!

In recognition of National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month, UniqueSource Products & Services celebrates Luke McDonald

Luke works at the County Blind Association Production Center and brings great energy to the team. He is always smiling, ready to work, and quick to share a story or a laugh.

In the mornings, Luke makes hooks (he once made 1,000 in half a day!) and in the afternoons, he shreds paper — sometimes on the big shredder, sometimes the small one. He also makes coat hangers and straps for trucks, which are his favorite. Luke doesn’t stop when the job’s done — he helps clean up, sweep the floor, and keeps things moving. He is fast, reliable, and knows how to fix a jam with a few button-presses and a good yank.
