William Boyd Hurst, 75, of Lloyd, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. William was born January 13, 1951, in Lloyd, Kentucky, a son of the late Cecil William Sr. and Ada Prater Hurst.

William was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran. He was retired from the Corps of Engineers where he worked as a Master Derrick Boat Operator. He enjoyed working with and riding horses, farming, baling hay, and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Dwayne Hurst; a great-grandson Dwayne M. Hurst and a brother Cecil Hurst Jr.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Buckley Hurst; two sons William “Buddy” Hurst and Steven (Jennifer) Hurst both of Lloyd, Kentucky; two brothers Kenny Hurst and Wayne Hurst both of Lloyd, Kentucky; four sisters Brenda Kay Truitt, Ina Chapman, Opal Hurst all of Lloyd, Kentucky and Rebecca (Jimmy) Baker of Greenup, Kentucky; six grandchildren Micheal Hurst, Corey Hurst, Wyatt Rhoden, Abbey McBrayer, Alycen Hurst, and Tyler (Litisha) Hurst; two great-grandchildren Lilith and Levi Hurst; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Minister Kenny Martin. Burial will be in the Hurst Family Cemetery, Lloyd, Kentucky. Benjamin “Benji” Joe Cox, 53, of Ashland, Kentucky passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Benji was born on June 21, 1972, a son of Genevieve Rice and the late Larry R. Cox. He was a man known for his warm spirit and kind heart—someone who truly never met a stranger. Those who knew him will always remember his easygoing nature and his favorite saying, “Fair to middling.”

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his step father Steve Swimm and his
sister Lisa Cox.

In addition to his loving mother he is survived by his life partner Nancy Hicks; three children Nicholas Sheffield, Kourtney Harris, and Savannah Stambaugh; stepson
Steven Stambaugh; siblings, Larry R. Cox II, Kristi L. Swimm, Misty Cox, Mitchell Cox; and eight grandchildren. Special people in Benjamin’s life included Terri Prince, Brook Prince, Rikki Picklesimer and Joe Jarrell who held a meaningful place in his heart.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Assembly of God Church, 525 Blackburn

Curtis Salley, 99, of Rush, Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 25, 2026, at his home. He was born December 8, 1926, in Greenup, Kentucky, a son of Frank and Ival Holmes Salley.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Janet Deal Salley; one brother Luther Salley; and two sisters Verna Salley Johnson and Francis Salley.

He retired from A. C. Lawrence Company in Ashland, Kentucky and was a WWII United States Army Veteran.

He is survived by one son Curtis E. Salley of Rush, Kentucky; one daughter Deborah Salley Blevins of Argillite, Kentucky; five grandchildren Shannon (Cyndi) Salley, Alison Blevins-Lauhon, Brandon W. Salley, Justin W. Blevins and Shane (Whitney) Salley; six great-grandchildren, Ashlee Salley, Cheyenne Wilburn, Damien Lauhon, Carlee Cooper, Zoe Lauhon, and Hannah Salley; four great-great-grandchildren Titus, Oaklee, Westley and Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

Curtis was a talented wood worker who cut, crafted, and sold many different wooden items at craft shows with his wife Janet, who painted them, for many years after he retired. He loved fishing and traveling and he was an avid Kentucky Wildcats Basketball fan. He was also a to***co farmer for many years. He was a HAM radio operator in his spare time. He used the radio to talk to people all over the world. Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man who always helped others when he could. His wisdom, talent and humor will be truly missed.

Joyce Ann Caudill, of Argillite, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her residence. Joyce was born December 11, 1940, in Argillite, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Elmer and Maxine Riley Callihan. After losing her mother, Maxine, at just three weeks old, she was raised with love by her father, Elmer, and her grandparents, Charles and Pocahontas Allen Callihan.

She graduated from Wurtland High School in 1958 and later went on to become co-owner of Interstate Truck Supply and C.V. Caudill Trucking, where she took great pride in her work and accomplishments.

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband Claude V. Caudill.

She is survived by two sons Jeff (Bonnie) Caudill of Grayson, Kentucky and Mike (Missy) Caudill of Argillite, Kentucky; one brother Tim Callihan of Argillite, Kentucky; three grandchildren Josh (Shawna) Caudill, Zack (Stephanie) Caudill, Megan (Arvin) Espanola; six great grandchildren Kian, Bentlee, Oliver, Marlow, Vada, and Griffin.

Mollie Ann Collier 76, of South Webster, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Mollie was born March 7, 1950, in Inez, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Vardie and Nellie Jude Fields.

Mollie was a 1969 graduate of Warfield High School and was a member of the Brick Union Baptist Church where her husband was the Pastor. Mollie had worked at Harts Department Store for several years. She loved her family dearly and spending time with them. She enjoyed raising and taking care of the chickens, cooking, reading her Bible, and gardening. Her favorite job was keeping Carl in line.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Danny “Bo” Fields.

Jessica Jane Stuart, 83, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Jane was born August 20, 1942, in Ashland, Kentucky and was the only child of poet & writer Jesse Stuart and Naomi Deane Norris Stuart.

Jane attended Stuart Hall preparatory school, Randolph–Macon College, the American University of Cairo, Egypt, and received her B.A. from Western Reserve University in Ohio. She later continued her education at Indiana University, where she received a master's degree in classical studies and a PhD in Italian literature.

Jane’s literary career began in her teens with the publication of a small volume of poetry, “A Year’s Harvest”. Later in her life, three of her novels and a collection of short stories were published by one of America’s leading publishing houses. Her work was well received and positively reviewed by The New York Times and other publications. She also published numerous translations of Dante and Montale and numerous poems and short stories in literary journals. Jane's literary prowess was recognized early in her life when–still in her 20s–she was listed in Who’s Who in America.

Jane taught creative writing and Italian literature at several universities including Haile Selassie I University, the University of Florida, and Flagler College.

Jane is survived by her two sons Conrad Stuart Juergensmeyer and his wife Cherity of Spring Hill, Florida and Erik Markstrom Norris Juergensmeyer and his wife Chiara of Durango, Colorado; five grandchildren Jesse Juergensmeyer of Durango, Colorado; Joshua Juergensmeyer and his wife Mary Jane of Ashville, North Carolina; Jonah Juergensmeyer of Tucson, Arizona; Jeremiah Juergensmeyer of Atlanta, Georgia; and Julia Juergensmeyer of Spring Hill, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to be the Jesse Stuart Foundation, 4440 13th St, Ashland, KY 41102.

Carl William Skaggs Jr, 78, of Raceland, Kentucky, passed peacefully, Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his home with the love his life Trudy holding his hand. Carl was born June 1, 1947, in Johnson County, Kentucky, a son of the late Carl William Sr. and Lillian Valenti Skaggs.

Carl was a 1965 graduate of Blaine High School in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and later graduated from Big Sandy Community & Technical College’s Mayo Campus in Paintsville, Kentucky, where he earned a degree in machinist technology. He was retired from Super Quik, where he served as a maintenance supervisor. During his years there, he helped build and install fuel pumps for many of the Super Quik stations throughout the area. Carl was a hardworking man who remained humble, loving, and generous throughout his life. He deeply adored his wife, Trudy, and cherished his family above all else.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Patti Bellar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Trudy Tackett Skaggs; a daughter JoAnn Bellar of Flatwoods, Kentucky; a brother John (Shera) Skaggs of Westerville, Ohio; a sister Lois Skaggs of Ironton, Ohio; two grandchildren Jayda Bellar of Greenup, Kentucky and Jacarr Coleman of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two great grandchildren Jayleigh Wells and Juni Wells; several nieces and nephews.

Sarah Sue Wood, 84, of Wurtland, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sarah was born March 12, 1942, in Liberal, Kansas and daughter of the late Leonard and Ferald D***s Neer.

Sarah was a devoted foster parent for many children and was a caregiver to many elderly people in the area. She formerly worked at the sewing factory in Glasgow, Kentucky. She enjoyed being a girl scout leader, teaching children’s church, painting and working with ceramics.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Lynn Wood; a granddaughter Sady Holbrook; two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by three daughters Deborah Jean (James) Busby of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Pamela Joyce (Ricky) Davis of Etoile, Kentucky, and Charmaine Christine (Jeffrey) Holbrook of Wurtland, Kentucky; a son Michael Wayne Wood of Flatwoods, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren Tabitha Irwin, Evan Potter, Mallarie Andersen, Matthew Busby, Victoria Busby, Logan Holbrook, Shaelee Holbrook, Taylor Holbrook, Brandon Wood, Dylan Wood, and Damion Wood; several great grandchildren, special friends, Maria Bastians, and Mattie and Ava Minter.

Martha “Jeanne” Blair Stewart, 80, of Worthington, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born April 13, 1945, in Cloverport, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William McKinley Blair and Bessie Sanders Blair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Phillip Roger “Horse” Stewart; and siblings Freddie Blair, Ed Blair, Alvin Blair, and Shirley Blair Coomes.

She is survived by one son William “Bill” (Lisa) Glenn Stewart of Summerfield, Florida; one daughter Jennifer Jean Stewart of Worthington, Kentucky; brothers Earl “Buckshot” (Minnie) Blair and Charles William “Butch” (Ogee) Blair; grandchildren Lila Marie Stewart and Ella Blair Stewart both of Summerfield, Florida; special friends Ramona McComas and Betty Whitt; caregivers Cindy Lacks and Brittany Mills; and a host of family and friends.

Jeanne was a 1963 graduate of Fredrick Fraize High School in Breckenridge County. In that same year she was crowned Miss Meade County Rural Electric. She worked in the family restaurant throughout her high school days. She was a former Title 1 aide for Worthington Elementary School, where she was also active in PTA, Fall Festivals, Haunted Houses, and more. Jeanne had a talent for catering where she volunteered lost of hours as house manager to the Paramount Arts Center during the Troubadour Concert Series.

Cloverport, Kentucky shaped her life in so many ways, the small Ohio river town is where she met Roger, who was working as a science teacher in Cloverport. They met on the school steps as she was delivering a fish tank to him and as they say, “the rest is history”. They were married on March 27, 1965, in Cloverport. Once married they returned to Roger’s hometown of Worthington, Kentucky, another small town also on the banks of the Ohio River where they established their home and family. She battled leukemia from January 2006-Decemeber 2008. Throughout her life she had several dogs that she cherished including Peppy Fuzzy, Duke, Oscar, and Sassy.

Jeanne enjoyed fishing, summer cookouts with her family and friends, and taking Sunday drives. She loved music, especially Marty Stewart, Garth Brooks, and Ronnie McDowell. She listened to all kinds of music from oldies to country. Jeanne would dress up in Costume in Cloverport for the Sacajawea Festival, Russell Railroad Days, and Halloween. Any occasion to put on a costume she was ready – even dressing up the neighborhood kids.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Delmar Hewlett. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Garden in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday. Shelby Tolliver, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her residence. She faced her illness with strength and grace, never complaining. Shelby was born May 12, 1940, in Greenup, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert Riley and Causetta Kilburn. She was a member of Little Jewell Old Regular Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, gardening, and canning. She made sure her family was well supplied with the best corn and green beans. SHe loved to cook and bake. She made sure everyone who walked through her door had plenty to eat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Henry Tolliver; four brothers Jack Riley, Earl Riley, Kenneth Riley, and Robert Riley Jr.; two sisters Geneva Ratliff and Linda Hupp.

She is survived by five sons Dennis (Pam) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, David (Annie) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, Henry (Becky) Tolliver of Waddy, Kentucky, Steve (Becky) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, and Melvin Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky; two daughters Sharri (Ed) Robinson of Greenup, Kentucky and Melissa (Jerry) Brown of Greenup, Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren Brian Hanners, Billy Hanners, Tony Burke, Michael Rigney, Steven Tolliver, Jeffrey Tolliver, Brian Tolliver, Matt Tolliver, Katie Tolliver Fischer, Melvin Tolliver, Dillion Tolliver, MIranda Robinson Davis, Heather Robinson Liles, Amber Brown Wireman, and Jerrad Brown; and numerous great – grandchildren.

Shelby leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, devotion, and unconditional love. Though her family’s hearts are heavy, they find comfort knowing she is at peace, resting in the arms of her Savior.

In addition to her loving family, she cherished her dear friends Mary Tolliver, Sylvia Hall and Rita Bryant, whose friendship brought her joy and companionship throughout the years.

Rebecca Ann “Little Becky” Pinson, 43, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Rebecca was born October 15, 1982, in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of James Pinson Jr. Portsmouth, Ohio, Laura Turner Pinson and Step Mom Rebecca Jean Hamilton of Grove City, Ohio. Rebecca had attended Portsmouth East High School. She loved playing volleyball, music, dancing, eating Whatchamacallit’s, playing “spa” day, and spending time with her girls.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children Jeremiah Walker Phipps.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two daughters Samanatha Jo Phipps and Elizabeth Paige Phipps of Grove City, Ohio; four sisters Jennifer Lynn Pinson of Portsmouth, Ohio, Rachel Marie Pinson of San Francisco, California, Nicole Cayliana Logan of Bexley, Ohio, and Sarah Ellen Logan of Upper Arlington, Ohio; a brother James Pinson III and wife Jessica of Lexington, Ky.; two nieces Alexis Phipps and Adreeona Phipps both of Portsmouth, Ohio; a nephew Elijah James Crisp of Bexley, Ohio, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

She was loved by all that knew her. The family wants to send a special “Thank You” for longtime family friend Mitzi Logan for always being here and a part of our extended family.
