Carlos Gene Blankenship, 87, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at UK King’s Daughters Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Gene was born on July 20, 1938, in Princeton, West Virginia, to the late Charles G. Blankenship and Polly Perry Blankenship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vada Nichols Blankenship, and three sisters, Charlotte Jones, Patricia Bell, and Phyllis Mazell.
Gene formerly attended the Wurtland Church of God and retired from Fannin Glass Company. He was an ordained minister for more than 30 years, faithfully serving the Lord and sharing his faith with others. Gene was a Kentucky Colonel, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a true friend to many. His family meant everything to him, and his unwavering devotion to God and commitment to being a godly example for his family were unmatched.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Carlos Blankenship of Franklin Furnace and Charles Blankenship of Greenup; two daughters, Belinda Fletcher (Mike) of Greenup and Michelle Rhodes (Chad) of Greenup; 11 grandchildren, Shawna, Mark, Misty, Staci, Brittany, Ashley, Breanna, Kara, Dakota, Steven, Levi, and 13 great grandchildren, Ava, Brooklyn, Tucker, Canaan, Dalton, Aiden, Isaac, Nylah, Kyston, Emily, Jacob, Hayley, and Alex.
Funeral services for Gene will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Wurtland Church of God , with Bishop Chester Keathley officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the service at Brick Union Cemetery, where Gene will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Vada.

David Shane Baker, 52, of Wurtland, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his residence. Shane was born February 22, 1973, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Margaret Workman Baker and the late Charles D. Baker.

Shane was of the Pentecostal faith and formerly worked for Poplin Sanitation. He enjoyed making grapevine canes, joy riding, tinkering with hot rods, and fishing.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Misty Dawn Baker of Raceland and Sabrina Nicole Baker of Greenup; one sister, Angela (Kevin) Akers of Ironton; two grandchildren, Xepher Baker and Deija Darnell; and his grandmother, Clara Mae Baker.

Funeral services for Shane will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup, with Pastor Timothy French officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Whitt Cemetery on Culp Creek.

Linda D. Graham, 68, of Greenup, passed from this earthly life on December 5, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her daughter Lyndsey, son-in-law Brian, and three grandchildren, Mya, Tyler, and Quinton.
Born on May 18, 1957, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Linda was the daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth Conley Graham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angie Moritz, and her brother, Raymond Graham.
Linda was a gentle, quiet soul who loved deeply and cared for everyone around her. A devoted homemaker, she found her greatest joy in tending to her family—especially her daughter and her beloved grandchildren. Her kindness, patience, and steady presence will be remembered always.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Lyndsey and Brian Jenkins of Greenup; her seven grandchildren; and her two great-grandchildren. She smiled until her last breath was because of her great grandchildren, Kylar and Kaiden.

Leonard Lee McConaha Jr., 73, of Greenup, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, November 22, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Born August 5, 1952, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Leonard was the son of the late Leonard McConaha Sr. and Meridy Leigh Smith McConaha. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Chad Blanton.
Leonard proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard. A printer by trade, he worked for many years with Service Office Supply. He was a man of faith who enjoyed attending Freedom Worship Church of God in Greenup.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Dianne Horn McConaha; two sons, Toma McConaha (Kelly) of Delaware, Ohio, and Jesse McConaha (Rachael Howard) of Raceland; two daughters, Danielle Blanton of Greenup and Jessica Everett (Josh) of Hilliard, Ohio; two brothers, Chuck McConaha of Alabama and Kevin McConaha of Tennessee; and two sisters, Shirley Cordial of Hilliard, Ohio, and Sharon Thompson of Columbus, Ohio.
He also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren—Jordan, Brandon, Ryan, Shannon McConaha, Tiffany Potter, Zachary Blanton, Destiny Cornette, Kylee Everett, and Leo McConaha—and his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Abel, Lincoln, Serenity, Reagan McConaha , Kylee Potter, Kinlee Potter, Kindall Potter, Raelynn Blanton, and Chadlee Blanton.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Witt officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Tuesday. Military honors will be presented by the Ceredo/Kenova American Legion Post #93.

Melissa Mae Kouns Stephenson (Missy), 66, beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 4, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill.
Missy was born in Ashland, KY in 1958 to the late Thomas and Dovetta Stith Kouns of Flatwoods, KY. Missy attended Russell High School before marrying the love of her life, Raymond, with whom she was married to for more than 48 years.
Missy was a devoted mother to Josh Stephenson(Rebecca) of Versailles and Jeremy Stephenson(Stefany) of Raceland, her prides and joy. She was always a proud and protective mother, and they felt that in the love and support she provided.
Missy took special joy in being Mimi to Kaelyn, Dylan, Eily, Xavier and so many other kids that adored her. She always loved having the grandkids and their friends at the pool where she could hear the joy in their voices.
Missy was a loyal sister to Tom Kouns(Marissa) of Flatwoods, Tim Kouns(Kelly) of Leavenworth, Betty Jo Jackson(Greg) of Berea, and her two bonus sisters, Stephanie Morris and Mary Fugate.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert (Bobby) Kouns, her precious granddaughter, Elia Ryann Stephenson, her sister in-law, Wanda Smiley(George), brother in-law, Cecil Stephenson(Jennifer) and several angel grandbabies whom she now holds in Heaven. In addition to her husband and family, she is also survived by her in-laws, Lorena Spainhower(Jack), Bonnie Keeton(Jim), Betty Smith(Bob), David Stephenson(Marilyn), and Glen Stephenson(Nancy), who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 7, 2025 at Greenup First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas J. Melvin and Reverend Glenn Stephenson officiating. Donald F. Blevins of Raceland, KY went to be with our Lord and Savior on 09/4/2025 at Hospice in Ashland, KY, surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born 11/01/1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to James F. Blevins and Genoa Faye Pinkerton Blevins Pack. Don’s father and mother moved back to Kentucky, where he was raised in Westwood and attended the Fairview Independent School Systems. He later attended Ashland Community College, where he met the love of his life, Brenda Shelton Blevins. They transferred to Morehead State University and were married their senior year at the Nazarene Church in Russell, KY. Their marriage lasted fifty-five years.

Don taught for Raceland High School for thirty-two years, where he had a wonderful rapport with the faculty and students. He truly loved his students that he taught throughout the years.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Blevins and Genoa Faye Pinkerton Blevins Pack, a stepfather, Freddie Pack, a stepmother, Catherine Blevins, and a sister Sandra Blevins McDonald.

The loved ones he left behind are his loving wife, Brenda Shelton Blevins of Raceland, beloved daughter Stephanie Blevins Cook (Don Akers) of Raceland, beloved son Michael Blevins (Wafay Blevins) of LaGrange, his four grandchildren, Rhiannon Cook, Gianna Cook, Madison Blevins, and Bodee Blevins. He also had nine stepbrothers and stepsisters including Barbara Jean Dunlap of Ashland, Patricia Sorrentino (deceased), Charles Moore (deceased), Sharon Robinson of Greenup, Sandy Williams of Florida, Louis Jones of Ashland, Jane Nelson of Ashland, Connie Davis of Ashland, and Jimmy Barber of Flatwoods. He also left behind many nephews and nieces. Also to mention, are Don’s lifelong friends, Mike Segraves, Bill Traylor, Jimmy Day, Gail Adkins, Ted Porter (deceased), and Eddie Salyers (deceased).

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Hospice of Ashland for making his transition as comfortable as possible.

Darlene Stephens Mabry, 90, beloved gardener, homemaker, and Grandmother, passes away — Lloyd, KY — On Saturday, August 9, 2025, Darlene peacefully departed this life, surrounded by the warmth and love of her devoted family. Born on March 20, 1935, in Greenup County to the late Wayne and Roxie Wolfe Stephens, Darlene made her home and her legacy right here in the region she cherished. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Billy Ray Mabry (1994), and her brothers-in law, Joe Fraley and Bob Browning. For generations, Darlene was the heart of every gathering—her kitchen the epicenter of comfort and connection. She delighted in tending her garden as much as she delighted in nurturing her family. She was known for Sunday dinners that lingered late into evening, and her house was always open—especially if the grandchildren were around. Her true joy came from laughter-filled afternoons with her grandbabies—Josh, Andrew Mabry—and later, watching Devin, Paul, Xavier, and Maddox grow. Those who will carry her memory forward include: Her son, Donnie Mabry, and his wife, Deanie of Lloyd, her daughter, Dianna Click, and her husband, Danny of Ashland, Her brother, Ralph Stephens, and his wife, Wilma of Greenup, Her sisters: Carol Fraley, Ricca Wells (and husband Bob), Linda Brown (and husband Allen), all of Lloyd, and Judith Browning of Russell. Grover Cleveland “GC” Hatfield, 90, of Raceland, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2025, while under the compassionate care of Hospice at the Lantern at Morning Pointe in Russell.
Born on February 6, 1935, in Belfry, KY, Grover was the son of the late Basil and Elizabeth Smith Hatfield. A proud 1954 graduate of Belfry High School, he went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.
Grover was a devoted member of Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon, trustee, and longtime choir member. His love for the Lord was evident in the life he lived and the service he gave to others.
A man of many talents, Grover was a former barber and retired as a security guard from Armco/AK Steel through Johnson Controls. He also co-owned the Country Bow-Kay Flower Shop, where he became well known for delivering flowers — often with a song and a smile.
An avid outdoorsman, Grover enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bike riding. However, his greatest joy came from cheering on his grandchildren in their sports and supporting his beloved Raceland Rams, a passion he proudly carried for over 50 years.
Grover was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Judith Stanley Hatfield, in 2014; his siblings Pauline Layne, Opal (Lon) Bailey, Ruth Robinson, Betty (Ermil) Coleman, Eugene Hatfield, Fred (Charlene) Hatfield, Ralph (Loretta) Hatfield; brother-in-law Curt Bell; and in-laws Joe and Ruby Stanley.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kathy (Bob) Coffee of Raceland, KY; son John Mark (Crissy) Hatfield of Alexandria, KY; grandchildren Kayla Coffee and Josh Hatfield; sister Glendine Bell; brother Cecil (Sheb) Hatfield; sister-in-law Wanda Hatfield; brothers-in-law Rudolph Layne and John Cecil Robinson; a host of nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Gloria Hunt and family.
A celebration of Grover’s life will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup, KY, officiated by Pastor J.R. Gullett and Bro. Hayden Hunt. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast with military honors provided by the Ceredo/Kenova American Legion Post #93.

Chester Dale Stevens, 81, of Argillite, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving daughters.
Born June 26, 1944, in Greenup, Dale was the son of the late Chester and Mabel Stiltner Stevens. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of many years, Lawona J. Stevens, who passed in 2005, and his sister, Betty Carr.
A proud veteran, Dale honorably served in the United States Army. After his military service, he went on to retire from AK Steel. He was an active member of the Greenup VFW and Amvets, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow veterans. Dale had a deep love for the land—he found joy in farming—and a passion for fast cars, hot rods, and restoring vintage automobiles.
Dale was a Christian man whose greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend to many.
He is survived by his two daughters, Christina Stevens of Cambridge, Ohio, and Chantel Ross of Jackson, Ohio; his three cherished grandchildren, Aidan Ross, Haley Ross, and Connor Wheeler, who brought light and laughter to his life and his loving sister Sharon Hammond.
A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup, with Pastor Marvin Boggs officiating. Military honors will follow the service, presented by the Ceredo/Kenova American Legion Post 93. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
All who knew and loved Dale are welcome to attend and share memories in his honor.

Karmen Evette Burke, 62, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on January 22, 1963, in Ashland, Kentucky, to the late Willie and Betty Louise Riggs Tolliver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chris Burke, and her brother, Alexander Tolliver.

Karmen was a devoted homemaker whose life was a quiet testimony of faith, love, and kindness. A faithful member of Lloyd Church of the Nazarene, she lived each day with a gentle heart and unwavering devotion to her family. Known for her warm smile, compassionate spirit, and deep sense of care, Karmen touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.

She was a dearly loved sister to Gregory Mitchell Tolliver (Michele) of Greenup, Christopher Tolliver of Ashland, Jason Tolliver of Greenup, and Nathan Tolliver of Piketon. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Karmen’s life will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Music Family Funeral Home in Greenup, with Pastor Kenny Martin officiating. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life visitation from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
