The U.S. eliminated measles in 2000, but rising cases are putting that status at risk. Over 1,600 infections have been confirmed this year, and experts say the true number may be higher. This week, an expert commission is meeting to review the latest measles data in the Americas. Canada is expected to be a top focus, with ongoing outbreaks since October 2024, while the U.S. and Mexico have outbreaks that began in January and February of 2025.
