A new pediatric cardiology endowment has been established to benefit pediatric cardiology patients and clinicians at James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center. This endowment also has a priority focus for Camp Wholeheart, a weekend camp for children with heart defects to learn more about living with their condition.
Martin and Melissa Anderson, long-time supporters of Maynard Children’s Hospital through the ECU Health Foundation, recently donated $250,000 to establish The Anna-Gray Anderson and Family Pediatric Cardiology Endowment, named in honor of their daughter. Anna-Gray was a patient at Maynard Children's Hospital for many years as well as a camper at Camp Wholeheart. Thanks to the care she received, Anna-Gray is now a happy, healthy adult. Her mother, Melissa, was also a Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Day Medical Unit RN for 27 years, making pediatric care in eastern North Carolina a cause near and dear to the family.
"Our family is deeply grateful for the exceptional care our daughter, Anna-Gray, received through four heart surgeries at ECU Health Medical Center. The skill, compassion, and dedication of the pediatric cardiology team and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit have meant more to us than words can express," said Melissa Anderson. "Establishing this endowment is our way of saying thank you and giving back - to support future families and ensure children in our community continue to receive the same extraordinary care that has meant so much to ours."
We are so thankful to the Anderson family and their continued support. We look forward to the impact this new endowment will have in the lives of countless pediatric cardiology patients, like Anna-Gray, at Maynard Children's Hospital.
