🌸 Wayne County Health Center Partners with Days for Girls! 🌸

We’re proud to announce our partnership with Days for Girls, a global organization dedicated to increasing access to menstrual care and health education for girls and women worldwide. Together, we’re working to create a more dignified, healthy, and educated world!

Through this partnership, we’ll help provide sustainable hygiene kits and health education to girls both locally and across the globe. Each Days for Girls kit includes reusable, washable supplies and vital health information, ensuring no one has to miss school or work because of their period.

Want to get involved?

• ✨📚Students & Beta Clubs: Volunteer with us and earn service hours by helping assemble kits or organize supply drives.

• 🏫Schools: Your school can even start an official Days for Girls Club, giving students the chance to lead service projects, promote menstrual health education, and make a global impact.

Wayne County Health Center will share upcoming opportunities for local workshops, volunteer days, and ways to donate. Together, we can empower girls, promote health equity, and end period poverty — one kit at a time.

🚨 PSA: Don't fall for the "natural" hype.
We need to talk about 7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine), a potent psychoactive compound being sold in gummies, candies and liquid shots that's marketed as a chill vibe. Spoiler alert: it's anything but.

This unregulated, synthetic derivative of kratom is opioid-like and seriously potent - we're talking up to 13 times stronger than morphine. Yeah, you read that right. THIRTEEN.

The Missouri Poison Center is reporting a spike in exposures: 47 reports of exposures involving kratom or 7-OH so far in 2025, which is nearly double the number from 2024. Three of those cases involved isolated 7-OH, with at least one requiring hospital evaluation. These products carry huge risks, including addiction, overdose and even death. Your well-being is worth more than a questionable convenience store candy. The advice is clear: avoid 7-OH products.

Symptoms of 7-OH exposure may include:
🚫 Nausea, vomiting and gastrointestinal distress.
🚫 Anxiety, agitation, confusion and insomnia.
🚫 Rapid heart rate, high blood pressure and trouble breathing.
🚫 Seizures, unconsciousness and withdrawal symptoms.
🚫 Risk of overdose, especially when combined with alcohol or other sedatives.

Stay safe, friends, and remember: if a "remedy" is that potent, it's not a casual indulgence.

Keep on shopping, Missouri WIC!
Missouri WIC participants can continue to redeem WIC benefits in November! Missouri WIC families should continue to attend appointments and shop with their WIC cards.

Today is Buckle Up Phone Down day. Please do your part to keep yourself safe and those around you. Wear your seat belts. Put your phone down. Do not be distracted. Be watchful for children as they trick or treat to keep them safe. Keep your eyes on your surroundings and on the road. Not on your phone or objects inside of your car.

10/28/2025

It’s easy. It’s simple. It will help save lives. Two very straight forward actions to take as the person behind the wheel to help keep our roads safe: Buckle up, phone down. We are proud to join the Missouri Department of Transportation and other state DOTs in sharing this important message.
