FAVOR Upstate

FAVOR connects people seeking recovery to resources that help foster and sustain long-term recovery.

Core Beliefs:
- Addiction recovery is a reality in the lives of millions.
- There are many paths to recovery.
- Recovery flourishes in supportive communities.
- Recovery is a voluntary process.
- Recovering people are part of the solution.
- Recovery gives back what addiction takes away. FAVOR Upstate is made up of individuals, families, and entire communities seeking recovery. We are your neighbor, friend, brother, daughter; we are your boss, your student, your politician, your co-worker; we are those who have struggled with our own addictions; and we are those who have known, loved, cared for, or lived with a person with a substance use disorder. FAVOR Upstate plans to open a recovery community center soon, which will be staffed by recovering people that will link individuals and families to long-term recovery through information and referral, public education, and recovery support services. FAVOR Upstate is a member of the Association of Recovery Community Organizations.

Vets Helping Vets. Anderson recently invited the FAVOR Upstate team from our Anderson Center to share how we support individuals and families navigating substance use recovery. We had the privilege of speaking to more than 225 veterans—men and women who have served our country with courage and sacrifice.

It was an honor to share how FAVOR provides peer recovery coaching, family support, and community resources to help people rebuild their lives and find lasting recovery.

As John Fink, who invited us to present, told us, "Thank you for helping us help ourselves to a better quality of life."

To the veterans who welcomed us so warmly: thank you for your service and for allowing us to be part of your community.
