🎄 Merry Christmas from Spirit EMS! 🎄

From our family to yours, we wish everyone a safe, joyful, and blessed Christmas. Today we especially want to recognize and thank our dedicated crews spending the holiday on shift, continuing to serve our communities with compassion and commitment. ❤️🚑

This morning our teams had the privilege of visiting nursing home residents and delivering stuffed animals collected during our recent stuffed animal drive. The smiles on their faces — and on our crews’ faces — truly captured the spirit of Christmas.

Paramedic Scott Wolf, who is on shift today, summed it up perfectly:

“We’re spreading Christmas cheer like butter today.” 🧈🎄

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Stay safe, stay warm, and Merry Christmas from all of us at Spirit EMS! 🎅🏼✨

For the past 25 years, Spirit EMS owner, President & CEO Brian K. Hathaway has carried on a Christmas Eve tradition that means so much to first responders and their families. While serving as a Darke County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher, Brian sends out a special Christmas Eve BOL—a message of hope, laughter, and holiday magic that so many families look forward to every year.

Across living rooms, firehouses, squad bays, and cruiser seats, first responders and their kids listen together, smiling as they wait for Santa to make his rounds. It’s become a tradition in countless homes, reminding us all what this season is truly about—family, community, and caring for one another.

Thank you, Brian, for bringing Christmas cheer year after year. You make the season a little brighter every time you do it. 🎄🚨❤️

’Twas the night before Christmas at Spirit EMS,
And the radios proved busy—no promise of rest.
The bays weren’t quite silent, the tones rang out clear,
For emergencies don’t pause just because Christmas is near.

At Greenville headquarters, the heart of it all,
Where dispatch stays steady and answers each call,
Admins, EMTs, medics, and van drivers too
Worked shoulder to shoulder as Spirit crews do.

Brian K. Hathaway, President, smiled with good cheer,
Keeping one yearly tradition alive every year.
Across Darke County he dispatched a BOL that night,
“All units be advised—Santa’s sleigh is in sight.”

From law to fire to EMS on the air,
A moment of magic was shared everywhere.
Even on calls, through the rush and the strain,
That BOLO brought laughter in snow and in rain.

Beside him stood Aaron Guthrie, Vice President strong,
Focused on service and keeping crews safe all along.
Sarah Stump in dispatch, steady voice on the line,
Kept the wheels turning perfect in time.

And Brian Brown, Operations Manager ready,
Kept crews moving forward, focused and steady.
From Greenville to Houston, Celina in tow,
Van Wert, Defiance, Liberty all in the flow.

Unit 495 rolled first, 4923 close by,
498 lit the roadway, Christmas lights in the sky.
4931 stood ready, 494 there too,
492, 4924, 4928—always seeing it through.

Then there was 4912, with a story to tell,
Staged up in Lima, knowing their job well.
All day they waited, patient and true,
Only for the call to be “canceled en route.”
They laughed, shrugged it off—because that’s how it goes,
In EMS life, sometimes nobody knows.

It wasn’t a silent night—not even close,
But compassion and courage defined every post.
Lights split the darkness, sirens filled air,
As Spirit EMS answered, showing they care.

So here’s to the calls run on Christmas Eve night,
To teamwork, tradition, and doing what’s right.
From the Spirit EMS family, through dark and through light,
Merry Christmas to all—and to all a safe night.

🎄✨ Spirit EMS Proud to Support Operation Santa’s Sleigh ✨🎄

Last night, Spirit EMS was honored to be part of Operation Santa’s Sleigh, a statewide effort dedicated to bringing holiday cheer to children, families, and medical personnel in children’s hospitals across Ohio.

EMTs Jeff Manning and Jessica Park proudly represented Spirit EMS, bringing two Spirit ambulances to participate in this special event. For Jessica, this experience was especially meaningful—she shared that being part of Operation Santa’s Sleigh was something she had always wanted to do. Even better, she was able to bring her son along for the ride, who is involved in a fire explorer program himself, making it a truly unforgettable night for both of them.

We’re proud of our team for giving back, spreading joy, and showing the heart behind what we do every day. This is what community, compassion, and Spirit EMS are all about. ❤️🚑🎅

🎄🚑 A Christmas Party to Remember at Spirit EMS 🚑🎄

Our annual Spirit EMS Christmas party was more than just a holiday celebration—it was a chance to reflect on an incredible year, recognize our people, and share an exciting look at what’s ahead.

We proudly showcased two new 2025 Ford E350 Crestline ambulances, which will be delivered in 2026 following a manufacturer parts recall. Alongside the ambulances, we unveiled major equipment investments focused on safety, efficiency, and patient care across all stations. These included eight Ferno Power 2X cots—six equipped with bariatric mattresses—allowing every station to have its own dedicated bariatric cot. We also displayed a new bariatric tarp mover with a seamless design built for durability, two Genis-powered stair chairs so each station has its own, and 50 butterfly BVMs to ensure first responders have the correct-size airway device in a single kit.

Advanced care upgrades included 10 UE video laryngoscopes with disposable blades for safer, more effective airway management, as well as a Lifearm chest compression device so each station is fully equipped. Operational improvements were highlighted with an Atlas 15,000-lb two-post lift added to the shop—bringing the total to two—and 18 new Kenwood portable radios to supplement the 12 already owned by Spirit. These radios allow seamless communication on the MARCS 800 system and consolidate everything into one unit. We also added a new full-size refrigerator for our CDST team.

True to Spirit style, the evening included a memorable and lighthearted surprise. With ambulances on backorder, owner Brian K. Hathaway teamed up with local horseman Jerry Marker to bring in a sleigh, while Mike Milo from PennCare made an unforgettable appearance dressed as Buddy the Elf. Santa arrived towing him in, keys in hand, to help explain what the team can expect in the coming year—bringing plenty of laughter and holiday spirit.

We also took time to recognize excellence within our organization. Congratulations to Jeannie Lewis, voted Spirit EMS Employee of the Year, and Ashley Baker, voted Supervisor of the Year—both truly deserving of the recognition for their dedication and leadership.

Every employee received a new jacket, our annual Christmas shirt, a holiday ornament, and a profit-sharing bonus as a thank-you for their hard work throughout the year. We’re also incredibly proud of our team for the overwhelming generosity shown during our stuffed animal and canned food drives. The donated toys will be delivered to elderly nursing home residents on Christmas morning, and the canned food drive was a huge success in supporting local families in need.

Thank you to our employees, partners, and community for another meaningful year. We’re grateful, proud, and excited for what’s ahead at Spirit EMS. ❤️🎄

🎄 Spirit EMS Stuffed Animal & Canned Food Drive! 🎄

Spirit EMS is excited to kick off our holiday donation drive to help spread joy throughout our community! We are collecting new stuffed animals for nursing home residents to be delivered on Christmas Day, as well as canned food items that will go to local families in need this season.

We’re inviting both our employees and the public to participate!
🧸 Employees: The team member who brings in the most donations will win a special prize at our Christmas Party on Sunday, December 14th!
🥫 Public: If you’d like to contribute, you can drop off new stuffed animals and non-expired canned foods at our main office or any of our satellite stations during normal business hours. A staff member will gladly take your donation and ensure it’s brought to the Christmas party for collection.

✨ Please be sure all stuffed animals are NEW and all canned food items are NOT expired.

Your generosity goes a long way—and together, we can make Christmas a little brighter for those who need it most. ❤️

Thank you for helping us serve our community in more ways than one!
