I’d like to share a little bit about my own experience in dealing with anxiety and depression and why mental health is something I am very empathetic about. Not only is mental health underserved…waiting lists to see a therapist, insurance requirements, trying this medication or supplement or that one, but depression and anxiety aren’t reasonable. You may look like you have the perfect life, the perfect family, and even the perfect smile. What people don’t realize is that behind that smile is heartache and pain, sometimes physical pain that doesn’t make sense. Depression has its ups and downs, with anxiety you constantly are on alert, wondering when the next valley is going to come after you’re on a peak. It’s a constant struggle. Throughout the years I have tried several different things to help me with my depression and anxiety. Some things do take the edge off or at least seem to for awhile, but the symptoms are never totally gone. After researching transcranial magnetic stimulation or TMS and knowing how underserved the mental health community is, we decided to offer this service in our office. I have been doing it myself, and have noticed that things feel lighter in my headspace. I don’t feel as easily agitated, more motivated, less overanalyzing, less feelings of being overwhelmed and worry, and just an overall better sense of calm. If you are interested in trying our TMS therapy, just know that it is our mission to try to help people who are suffering with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and other disorders. TMS is often covered by insurance, but what they don’t tell you is that you have to have tried four medications and failed, have had at least 10 counseling sessions, and have a PQH9 (depression scale) of 20 or above, which is severe. Not taking insurance gives us the freedom to treat people sooner before they become severe or don’t wish to be on medication. We are accepting referrals from other providers, so you don’t have to be our patient. If you have questions regarding anything with TMS or affordability, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. The best way is messenger or my email treeoflifetms@gmail.com. You can always call the office too at 937-547-0111. This is not meant to be just an ad, but an olive branch if needed. Don’t suffer in silence.
