We have been active in prison ministry for several years, a few months ago we teamed up with Encounter Church and now have a campus within the prison on Sunday mornings.
We are going to highlight some stories of inmates and what God is doing. We will not use names or talk about their crimes, but will talk about what God is doing.
There was an inmate who was arguing with his mother, he said he was upset because he just wanted to be reassured that God was with him, and had a plan for his life.
The next day he was on the phone with her, and kept seeing another inmate walking around the yard, and he kept staring at him. He got off the phone and the guy approached him and asked him who he was. He told him and he said your the man that committed the crime against my family, but your not who they say you are on the streets. You see this guy had been set free from and was living for Jesus now.
This guy goes on to tell him he had been watching him for over a week and was waiting to kill him. They ended up praying together, and the other inmate told him that him and his family would keep him In prayer and wanted him to know that God loved him and had a purpose for his life.
The inmate told me that the key to the whole story was that he is living a life set free and not just talking about it.
