🩸 November is National Marrow Awareness Month 🩸

This month, we recognize the importance of bone marrow donation and the lifesaving role it plays in treating patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood disorders.

According to the CDC, thousands of people each year are diagnosed with life-threatening diseases that can be treated or cured by a bone marrow or cord blood transplant. Increasing awareness and donor registration can help provide hope - and second chances - for those in need.

At Greenville Pathology, we’re proud to support the medical professionals and diagnostic teams who make these treatments possible through precise and timely pathology services.

💙 Together, we can help raise awareness, inspire donors, and save lives.

🎗️ Men Can Get Breast Cancer Too

While breast cancer is much more common in women, it’s important to know that men can be diagnosed as well. According to the CDC, about 1 out of every 100 breast cancers in the U.S. occurs in men.

Because it’s less expected, men often ignore the warning signs—like a lump in the chest area, changes to the skin, or ni**le discharge. Awareness is key for everyone.

At Greenville Pathology, our work helps provide answers, clarity, and guidance for all patients—men and women alike—so care teams can take the right next steps.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s remind our community: breast health matters for everyone.

🔍 Know Your Breasts, Know Your Options

Self-awareness is a powerful tool. The National Breast Cancer Foundation notes that about 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are first detected by women who feel a lump.
Performing a monthly self-exam helps you know what’s “normal” for you—and recognize changes.

But self-exams are not enough on their own. For most women, a mammogram every 2 years, between ages 40 and 74, is recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force.

If you notice any new lumps, skin changes, ni**le discharge, or persistent breast changes—don’t wait. Let your doctor know. And ask whether you’re due for a mammogram or screening.

🎗️ Early Detection Makes a Difference

Did you know that when breast cancer is found early—before it spreads—it is often easier to treat successfully?

That’s why screening matters. According to the CDC, mammograms are the best tool for detecting breast cancer at an early stage, sometimes even before symptoms appear.

At Greenville Pathology, we’re dedicated to delivering accurate, timely results that help guide the next steps in care. Together, we can turn awareness into action and support healthier futures.

🎗️ According to the UNC-Lineberger Cancer Center, more than 5,000 women in North Carolina will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. It’s the most common cancer among women — but early detection makes all the difference.

A mammogram could save your life. Or your wife’s. Your mother’s. Your daughter’s. Your friend’s.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, schedule your annual mammogram or remind the women you love to schedule theirs. Because when one person fights cancer, the power of many helps defeat it. 💕
