Our daily habits either drain our energy or fill it back up. This graphic beautifully shows the difference between “energy takers” and “energy givers.”

If you’ve been feeling tired, stressed, or burnt out, take a look at which side your lifestyle leans toward. Small shifts—like drinking more water, getting some sunlight, or practicing mindfulness—can make a huge difference.

It’s not about perfection; it’s about noticing what depletes you and choosing more of what restores you. Your energy matters. 🔋🪫

Please take good intentional care of yourselves to regulate your nervous system.Try unplugging from your electronic gadgets and take a break from the newsfeeds for one day. Get outside, take a nature walk,hug/ snuggle your pet, get on your yoga mat, pray, meditate, reach out to supportive friends and family. Do whatever grounds you and recharges your batteries. I approve trauma therapist, Dr.Arielle Schwartz's, message below.

Take good care right now…

I didn’t watch the video of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. However, I’ve had enough conversations with those who did to know what was in there. And, as a trauma therapist, I know that these images can imprint in our minds…and it can take a while to recover.

Re-experiencing symptoms of trauma refers to the ways that our minds often display or review the disturbing image—again and again. Why? It is an attempt to make sense of something, and to move out of powerlessness of overwhelm back into a sense of control and groundedness.

Hyper-vigilance symptoms include feeling on guard, anxious, and worried about the next terrible thing.

These both can lead to avoidance symptoms in which we simply want to withdraw from the world…as an attempt to stay safe.

Notice if these symptoms post-traumatic stress are present for you. If so, be gentle, reach for support. Remember that this hurting world also has beauty and many kind, compassionate souls.

In a world where we are currently being exposed to threats on a regular basis, how do we find the balance between self-care and action?

In many ways, this is a very personal question. It is about asking yourself, “how much can I handle?” in other words, ask yourself at what point does reading the news or scrolling social media lead you to feel paralyzed in fear, helpless, or despairing for our world?

While I believe it is important to stay informed about the current happenings and potential threats in our world, if we ourselves become dysregulated, then we cannot participate in active solutions to make this world a better place.

Asking yourself “how much can I handle?” is a way to pace yourself and in itself is a way to ensure that you can show up for yourself, your loved ones, your community, and this world as a source of goodness.

Perhaps you have a feeling inside that says what right do I have to take good care of myself when there is so much suffering and pain all around me? I’ll offer once again that depriving yourself of nurturing self-care not only depletes your resources but reduces the likelihood that you can show up in a kind or compassionate manner for others.

And, our world so badly needs all of the kindness and compassion we can give.

Now, the question becomes, what allows you to take the best possible care for your mind, body, heart, and nervous system?

For me, there are certain non-negotiables that are part of my daily routine. These include getting on my yoga mat, meditating, taking my daily walk around the lake at sunset, and taking the time to reflect on at least one thing that brings me a sense of gratitude or appreciation. Reaching out for connection is also so important, to not feel so alone with what is happening in our world.

The final question is “what can I do to make this world a better place?” How can I speak up against hurtful actions, how can I protect the vulnerable, how can I care for my fellow human beings? These actions of care can be small, every day actions, such a random acts of kindness to remind each other that goodness exists.

Most importantly, it all adds up.

This is one of my favorite DBT mindfulness skills. Its part of the WISE mind thinking module.

Next time your emotions are intense (such as depression, anxiety, frustration, irritability, annoyance).
GIVE it a try.

"Teflon Mind" takes a little practice but over time I hope you find it effective at helping you stay in the present moment non-judgementally. When you notice that you are attaching or ruminating less on the unhelpful thought then you experience the positive impact what I call relief.

To help you visualize further:
Imagine an egg in a frying pan.Let those uncomfortable thoughts slip out of that egg.It represents those unhelpful thoughts that dont serve you. Then focus on something completely different perhaps a pleasant sensation, scent, photo or taste.

Thoughts are just thoughts. They are not facts. Feelings are just feelings (data if you will). Both can be changed and softened, but neither define you.

Have you tried this before? If you have share your experience below. or talk to your DBT trained therapist.

🌈🐾 With heavy hearts, we share that Moxey and Blitz, beloved therapy dogs, crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully last week.

For a total of 6 beautiful years, Moxey and Blitz served as Ada Brosier Counseling Services, PLLC therapy dogs, offering quiet comfort, warm presence, and unconditional love to many clients. Whether nestled beside someone in grief or simply sitting in stillness with those navigating anxiety, Moxey and Blitz both had a way of making people feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.

If you weren't careful, Blitz also had a sneaky way of snatching Starbucks cups off the table especially if you were not paying attention to him.

They both worked with grace and intuition—rarely asking for attention(maybe just treats), but always offering it freely. Their tail wags, soft eyes, and calming energy were a healing presence for many.

Moxey(15) passed peacefully, surrounded by love, alongside her therapy dog partner Blitz(12). Their work here is done, but their legacy lives on in the hearts they helped to heal.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed Moxey and Blitz into their sessions, their stories, and their heart❤️‍🩹🌈

🌿 Taking medication is not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength.

Just like you wouldn’t shame someone for taking insulin for diabetes or using an inhaler for asthma, there’s no shame in using medication to support your mental health.

🧠 Medication can be a powerful tool — helping regulate brain chemistry, improve daily functioning, and give you the clarity to fully engage in therapy and healing.

✨ You are not weak for needing support. You are brave for seeking it.
