💜Self Care Sunday💜

This weeks self care practice is:
🌺 Notice Little Beauty 🌼

Self-care does not always have to be big or time consuming. Sometimes it is as simple as noticing the small moments of beauty around you. When we slow down and intentionally look for small positives, it helps shift the brain away from constant stress and toward appreciation and presence. This can support emotional regulation and improve overall mood.

Try practicing this by:

❤️ Noticing the colors in a sunset on your drive home.
❤️ Paying attention to the sound of birds or wind outside.
❤️ Appreciating a warm cup of coffee or tea in the morning.
❤️ Spotting the first flowers or new growth of spring.
❤️ Taking a moment to admire artwork, nature, or even a smile from someone nearby.

Training your mind to recognize small moments of beauty can create tiny pauses in the day where stress softens and gratitude grows. Those moments add up.

Radical Acceptance

🌧️ “It’s raining.” 🌧️

On the left is what resistance can sound like.
I hate this. This ruined my day. Why does this always happen? Life is unfair.

On the right is acceptance.
Yup, it’s raining.

Radical acceptance does not mean you like it. It does not mean you approve of it. It means you stop fighting reality as it is. When we argue with what we cannot control, our suffering increases. When we acknowledge what is true, we free up energy to decide what to do next.

Acceptance lowers emotional reactivity. It reduces rumination. It creates space for effective action instead of emotional escalation.

If you are struggling with overwhelming emotions, distress tolerance, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to shift, support can help.

Belle Tower Group has openings for in-person and telehealth mental health services.

Rumination can feel like being stuck in a mental loop you cannot shut off.

You replay the conversation.
You imagine every possible outcome.
You question your choices.
You compare yourself to others.

The more you think, the louder it gets.

This graphic shows how rumination works:
• Loop triggers like “what if” thoughts, replaying old arguments, or trying to make sense of someone else’s choices
• Loop amplifiers like lack of sleep, shame, unresolved grief, and emotional isolation
• And most importantly, loop breakers like naming the feeling, intentional breathing, pausing before reacting, and moving your body

You do not have to eliminate every thought. You just have to interrupt the cycle.

Which loop breaker could you try today?

March is Self Harm Awareness Month. 🧡

Self-harm is often a coping strategy for overwhelming emotional pain, not a bid for attention. Many who struggle carry deep shame and silence. Awareness means reducing stigma, recognizing warning signs, and creating spaces where people feel safe enough to say, “I’m not okay.”

Healing is possible. With the right support, individuals can build healthier coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and process the underlying trauma, anxiety, depression, or distress driving the behavior.

Belle Tower Group currently has openings for in-person and telehealth mental health services. Our clinicians provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a non-judgmental space.

If you or someone you love is struggling, you do not have to face it alone.

Call or text 616-835-9292 or visit our website to get started.

Belle Tower was out supporting the community at the IM SAFE Child Advocacy Center Start by Believing Dinner last night.

It was an honor to share space with so many individuals passionate about ending child abuse and neglect. I/M SAFE provides a safe environment and critical resources for children and families during their most vulnerable times. Located in Montcalm County, we are fortunate to have such an invaluable community resource committed to excellence.
