CLS just finished providing Spanish interpretation for a two-day conference that took place in Washington, D.C. Did the interpreters have to travel there? Nope! 😁 Due to the power of technology, we were all in the comfort of our own homes. This allowed us to have a much broader reach, as well as save the organization money on travel fees. Curious? Let's talk about the pivot...
Today, one of my students had a problem with her audio in our virtual English class. Did I cancel? No! We both put ourselves on mute in Zoom, and I called her on the phone 📞so that we were able to hear (and still see) each other! Just like that🫰🏾 everything went smoothly. Sometimes you have to think of a Plan B, C or D in order to get the job done...and that's Okay.

I don't know about you, but I need a vacation! Whether for work or fun, domestic or international, traveling is a great way to see a different side of life, people, culture and food. Another great benefit can be exposing yourself to a new language. Immersion is powerful!

Two years ago today, I took this picture at a really cool venue with a ton of pianos.🎹 I was in heaven; it reminded me of how much I missed playing the piano. What happened? I stopped practicing, and lost all that I worked so hard to learn. Learning a language works in the same way...it's a SKILL, and if you don't use it, you'll LOSE it!

One of my students told me last night that her Spanish lessons with me helped her understand some of what was being said last night at the Superbowl half-time show. I haven't taught her in over a year!🤯 Our brains retain more information that we may realize.

We have officially made it to February! Does anyone else feel like January just BLINKED by?! I am grateful that we entered February safely even while facing inclement weather. As we enter this new month, I choose to set my intentions on my goals, and prioritize moments for rest and recovery. What is your goal for February?
