Meet our trainee Harrison. He lives with his family in Stamford and is in the Stamford Transition Program. Harrison has learned all of the jobs and responsibilities at Coffee for Good very quickly and is now joining our bakers in the kitchen, making cookies, cakes, and other pastries.

When he’s not work at work, he likes to hang out with friends, go to the Stamford-RPM, and play with his dog, Inspector. Harrison‘s favorite things at Coffee For Good are the Kasama crinkle cookies and the chai lattes. Stop in and try a Harrison Special; the Pear-Almond was a fan favorite!

Coffee for Good and the Second Congregational Church Mom’s Group hosted a book talk with Eileen Flood O’Connor the author of EATING PIZZA BACKWARDS. Jenny Byxbee led the discussion with Eileen with thoughtful questions about the book and her experience as a parent.
This book of essays is centered around her experiences of raising 4 children, the oldest of whom has an autism spectrum disorder. Eileen talked about her letter to herself on diagnoses day, siblings, taking time for herself amongst other insightful subjects.
A quote from the essay titled Relying on Science, Going on Faith, ended the wonderful evening.
“… regardless of a child’s abilities, parents most often inhabit a space where science ends and hope begins. It’s not always an easy or comfortable space, but we hang onto faith as it’s the only alternative.”
Copies of the book are available at Coffee for Good.
Eileen is very generously donating 100% of proceeds.
