Yesterday, we put on another social-distance installment of the Greenwich HomeCare Concert Series for the residents and employees of Atria Stamford. We are proud to be able to continue this initiative and to be able to bring joy into the lives of our client's and their communities in a socially safe manner. We are looking forward to more concerts to come!

Dementia causes many ordinary tasks to become extraordinarily difficult. Dressing can become too hard and people may decide not to change their clothing at all. Some tips to help with this process are:
• Don’t rush the individual in the process
• Limit clothing choices to two outfits
• Talk the individual through the process of putting the clothing on
• Lay the clothing out in the order it needs to be put on
• Buy several outfits that look alike if the individual insists on wearing one certain outfit
• Pants with elastic and tops with buttons down the back or that pullover are easiest

Safety tips and suggestions for Seniors:

• Remove loose rugs to prevent tripping
• Place reflective tape from the bed to the bathroom to see the path at night
• Install grab bars for the toilet and shower
• Have a list of emergency contact phone numbers posted
• Ensure that an emergency contact has a list of all medications and dosages prescribed
• Provide a list of your physicians and their phone numbers to you emergency contact
• Always remember to stay hydrated. Lack of hydration can cause urinary tract infections which disproportionately impact the elderly
• Dress in loose clothing during the warmer months to prevent overheating

Yesterday we rocked out!
Thank you to Greenwich HomeCare for bringing in the music with such talent and care. Our residents sang, danced, and connected with each other through songs from their childhoods. A perfect program for such a hot day!

We have some exciting news... starting in September, Greenwich HomeCare will be putting on magic shows by renowned magician Ben Zabin!!

The first show is on September 7th at Atria Stamford starting at 3pm. All residents and families welcome.

There will be performances on September 10th at The Mews, September 20th at Maplewood Darien, and September 26 at the Stamford Senior Center.

The next Greenwich HomeCare sponsored concert is this Wednesday, July 18th, at Brighton Gardens.

Located at 59 Roxbury Road in Stamford, CT.

Make sure to stop by Brighton Gardens at 2pm this Wednesday to hear some awesome classic rock!!

If you can't make it this week, there is a concert on July 26th at the Brightview on New Canaan in Norwalk and one on August 15 at the Norwalk Senior Center. More details to come!
