Congratulations Roger !!

After 37 years of dedicated service to the Greenwich Police Department, including nearly 19 years as a Traffic Technician. Officer Roger Drenth is retiring. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy as one of the finest traffic and accident investigators our Department has ever known.

Technician Drenth joined GPD in 1988 and became a Traffic Technician in 2007, a role perfectly suited to his exceptional attention to detail. His vast institutional knowledge and extraordinary ability to deconstruct and reconstruct crash scenes have made him a recognized expert in the field. He has been called upon countless times to provide expert testimony in both criminal and civil cases, and his personnel file is full of departmental commendations and letters of gratitude.

"GPD is grateful to Technician Drenth for his contributions to the Department and to the field of traffic and accident investigations," said Chief James Heavey. "He will be truly missed, and his expertise will be hard to replicate."

Thank you for your service, Technician Drenth. Enjoy a well-deserved retirement! 🎖

After a 33-year tenure with the Town of Greenwich—and a remarkable 42 years in law enforcement—Lieutenant Robert Lombardo has retired, leaving behind a legacy defined by dedication, integrity, and mentorship.

Lt. Lombardo joined the Greenwich Police Department in 1992, bringing with him nearly a decade of prior experience from the Wilton Police Department, where he had already distinguished himself in both law enforcement and emergency medical services. Whether performing life-saving CPR, investigating criminal activity, or assisting motorists in distress, his commitment to public service was unwavering from the start.

Promoted to sergeant in the GPD Patrol Division in 1999, Lt. Lombardo went on to serve 26 of his 33 years at GPD in supervisory and leadership roles.

Throughout his career, he mentored and guided hundreds of officers, shaping the next generation of law enforcement professionals with his steady leadership and deep sense of duty.

His contributions have been recognized through numerous commendations and letters of appreciation—from both within the Department and the Greenwich community. Yet, among the many milestones of his distinguished career, one moment stands out: in 2019, Lt. Lombardo had the honor of presenting his daughter, Brooke, with her badge as she joined the ranks of the Greenwich Police Department.

Chief Heavey reflected on Lt. Lombardo’s impact, stating, “As the Midnight Patrol shift commander for many years, he has distinguished himself through his vigilance, investigative skills, mentorship, and sound decision making.”

The Greenwich Police Department extends its deepest gratitude to Lt. Lombardo for his decades of exemplary service and leadership. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide the Department for years to come.

The Greenwich Police Department regrets to announce the recent passing of Detective David Wilson, a dedicated public servant and retired detective of the Greenwich Police Department. He was 58 years old.

Detective Wilson committed much of his life to the safety and well-being of his community. He grew up in Bridgeport Connecticut and attended Central High School before earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University. Detective Wilson also served in the United States Navy from May of 1992 to June of 1998 when he was honorably discharged. He began his career with the Greenwich Police Department on November 15, 1999, and quickly became known for his strong work ethic, sharp instincts, and unwavering commitment to justice.

In December of 2004, then Patrolman Wilson made history as the department’s very first “Officer of the Month.” His quick thinking and resourcefulness during a commercial burglary investigation led to the discovery of crucial surveillance footage that ultimately helped identify, locate, and apprehend the suspect. This recognition was just one of many moments that highlighted his exemplary service.

Detective Wilson was appointed to the position of detective on October 7, 2008, a role in which he thrived. In 2012, he was honored with the prestigious Dr. John Clarke Officer of the Year Award for his diligent and determined work in solving the 2009 shooting of a gas station attendant in Old Greenwich—bringing closure to a case that had deeply affected the community.

After nearly two decades of service, Detective Wilson retired from the force on April 1, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, bravery, and compassion.

He will be remembered not only for his accomplishments in law enforcement but also for his quiet strength, loyalty to his colleagues, and deep commitment to the people he served.

Visitation will be on 08/08/25, held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, located at 419 White Plains Road in Trumbull, Connecticut. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Stratford, Connecticut.

The Greenwich Police Department joins all members of the Department in extending our sincere sympathy to the Wilson family.

On June 30, 2025, Detective Keith Hirsch concluded his distinguished 27-year career with the Greenwich Police Department, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and unwavering service to the community.

Throughout his tenure, Det. Hirsch played a pivotal role in the Community Impact Section, fostering collaboration between law enforcement, local businesses, and residents to create a safer Greenwich. His efforts were instrumental in launching innovative crime prevention programs, including the Lock It or Lose It campaign, the Youth Citizens Police Academies, Police Day celebrations, and the Coffee with a Cop initiative—each designed to strengthen trust and transparency between the police and the community.

Beyond policy and programs, Det. Hirsch made an impact where it truly mattered—on the ground, training students and residents in crime prevention, conducting security audits, and educating the public on active-shooter best practices. His dedication to proactive policing ensured that Greenwich’s neighborhoods remained safe and well-informed.

Det. Hirsch’s outstanding contributions did not go unnoticed. Over the years, he received numerous commendations. He was awarded the Dr. John Clarke Greenwich Police Officer of the Year Award as a member of the Communit Impact Section in 2007, as well as other honors from the U.S. Department of Justice and the New England Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as widespread recognition from his department and countless letters of appreciation from grateful residents and organizations.
