It is Mindset Monday! In public safety, no two days are the same. A strong mindset isn’t just about staying tough — it’s about staying adaptable.

When plans shift, when calls change, when your day doesn’t go as expected — your ability to adjust with purpose keeps your team strong and your community safe.

This week, take a moment to remind yourself:
➡️ Flexibility is not weakness; it’s readiness.
➡️ Every challenge is an opportunity to grow your response.
➡️ The calm you bring in change shapes the strength of your whole team.

Stay steady. Stay flexible. Lead by example.

COMPASSION IN ACTION 💙

On November 10, 2025, Officer Lerma and Officer Abeyta, who are assigned to Denver Police District 4, responded to a residence on W. Exposition Avenue regarding a report of a woman experiencing a mental health crisis. When the officers arrived on scene, they were met by a very distraught mother who was struggling to care for her family during the recent federal government shutdown. The officers, along with a mental health technician, were able to help the woman calm down. In speaking with her, they gained a better understanding of the situation. At the heart of the matter was the woman’s inability to feed her child during this difficult time. With that information, Officer Lerma and Officer Abeyta pooled their money and purchased $200 worth of groceries for the small family.

To our partners across public safety: today we pause to honor the Veterans within your agencies and the legacy they carry into this work.

The values shaped through military service—discipline, integrity, teamwork, and resilience—strengthen every shift, every call, and every community you protect. Many of you serve twice, continuing to show up long after your time in uniform.

Thank you to every Veteran in law enforcement, fire service, EMS, communications, and emergency management. Your commitment to service did not end when your enlistment did. It lives on in the way you lead your teams, guide new recruits, and support your communities.

We are grateful for your continued dedication and proud to stand beside you.

Happy Veterans Day

It's Mindset Monday!

Your mindset sets the tone not just for you, but for the people standing next to you.
Start this week by taking one minute to reset your focus.

Ask yourself: How can I show up for my team today?
A small effort, a clear head, or a simple check-in can change the pace of an entire shift.

Strong teams aren’t built in big moments.
They’re built in the quiet, steady choices we make every day.

Move with purpose. Back each other up. Keep each other strong.

Tip Tuesday!
Long shifts, unpredictable calls, and adrenaline spikes can take a toll on your body and mind. Here’s a small change that can make a big difference:

Set a “Reset Routine.”
When your shift ends, do one thing that helps your brain switch gears — a short walk, deep breathing, music on the drive home, or journaling for 2 minutes. This simple ritual helps lower stress, improve sleep, and prevent burnout.

Mental Health Monday!
In public safety, strength isn’t just physical — it’s mental, too. Every day, you face situations that most people never experience. Taking care of your mind is just as important as staying in shape or sharpening your skills.

This week, check in with yourself: How are you really feeling?

Take 5 minutes of quiet time after your shift.

Talk with a peer, counselor, or loved one.

Remember: asking for help is a sign of resilience, not weakness.

Your mental health matters — to you, your team, and the community you protect. 💙

💪 Wellness Wednesday: Protect the Protector

In public safety, it’s easy to focus on everyone else’s needs first—but your wellness is part of the mission, too.

Wellness isn’t just physical fitness or nutrition (though those matter). It’s also about mental readiness, emotional balance, and meaningful connection. Whether it’s taking a quiet moment before shift, stretching after a call, sharing a laugh with your crew, or scheduling that overdue check-up—every small action adds up.

Remember: your body and mind are your most important tools. Take care of them like your gear—clean, maintain, and recharge regularly.

Today’s challenge: do one thing that restores your energy instead of draining it. You deserve that reset.

! Connect Before You Need To
Building trusted peer connections before stress hits makes it easier to reach out when it matters most.
Check in with your team regularly—about work, life, or just to share a laugh.
Strong relationships are one of the best protective factors for mental health.

🧠 Mental Health Monday! The Power of the Pause

In public safety, the mission is constant—serve, protect, respond. But in between the calls, the reports, and the long shifts, it’s vital to take a moment to pause.

That pause isn’t weakness—it’s maintenance. It’s how we check in with ourselves, reset our minds, and make sure we can keep showing up for others at our best. Whether it’s a few deep breaths before the next call, a quick walk after shift, or talking through a tough moment with a trusted teammate—those small steps matter.

Remember: caring for your mental health is part of caring for your community. When you take time to recover, you strengthen your resilience and the safety net we all depend on.

This week, give yourself permission to pause. You’ve earned it—and it makes a difference.
