Christina came to our facility after undergoing a craniectomy related to otomastoiditis and subdural empyema—and her progress has been nothing short of inspiring. 💙

When she first arrived, Christina required assistance from two people for basic mobility, transfers, and self-care. She also needed support just to sit at the edge of the bed and was unable to take steps. In addition, she faced significant communication challenges, including difficulty understanding instructions and finding the right words.

Through determination and hard work, Christina made incredible strides. By the time of discharge, she was independent with bed mobility, dressing, bathing, toileting, and transfers. With a rolling walker, she was able to walk 250 feet with supervision and safely navigate steps. Even more remarkable, her communication skills improved to nearly her prior level of function.

We are so proud of Christina’s strength, resilience, and commitment to her recovery. It has been an honor to be part of her journey and witness her regain both physical and cognitive abilities. 🌟

Every 23 seconds someone in the US experiences a brain injury. Inpatient rehabilitation is unique from other post-acute care settings in the intense amount of therapy provided to help patients overcome obstacles after a traumatic injury and get back to the life they love.

03/19/2026

Inpatient rehabilitation looks at the whole person when developing a recovery plan and involves multiple medical team members, including physical medicine rehabilitation, physiatrists, rehabilitation nurses, social workers, case managers and physical, occupational and speech therapists. We use rigorous improvement measures to track patient outcomes. This helps ensure we provide evidence-based care best suited to assist each patient in making the greatest gains possible.
