🌷 April is Parkinson's Awareness Month — and it hits close to home for a lot of Upstate families.
Have you noticed a parent's handwriting getting smaller? A tremor that wasn't there before? A voice that seems softer lately?
These things get explained away easily. But sometimes, they're early signs of Parkinson's disease — and the earlier it's caught, the more options your family has.

🔵 Early warning signs to know:
👉 Tremors or shaking
👉 Slowed movement
👉 Stiff or rigid muscles
👉 Balance or posture changes
👉 Changes in speech or handwriting

📣 Upstate Families — Your Voice Is Needed!

Right now, the South Carolina Association of Area Agencies on Aging is collecting responses for the 2026 Statewide Needs Assessment — a survey that happens only once every four years and directly shapes the services and funding available to seniors across our state.

Here's why it matters: the results influence how resources are allocated to programs right here in Greenville, Greer, Spartanburg, and the surrounding Upstate communities. More responses = stronger advocacy = better care for our local seniors. It really is that simple.

Whether you're a family caregiver, a senior yourself, or someone who works alongside older adults — please consider taking a few minutes to share your experience.

✅ The survey is completely FREE and takes just a few minutes.
✅ A paper version is available for those who prefer it.

Here in the Upstate, we see that every single day. Social workers are quietly showing up in our hospitals, our schools, our senior centers — and in the homes of families who are doing their best to care for an aging parent and simply need someone in their corner.
