Oregon Aquatic & Rehab Center

Oregon Aquatic & Rehab Center aquatic physical therapy services Aquatic Physical Therapy is physical therapy that is performed in a pool versus the traditional land based setting.

Prior to initiating an aquatic program you will be evaluated by your physical therapist to determine what your individual functional limitations and rehab goals are. This will help tailor an aquatic program specific to your needs. Our goal is to provide you with the most efficient, effective treatment. We provide one on one individualized treatment sessions. The aquatic medium typically allows patients to begin their rehabilitation more quickly and therefore recover more quickly. Your aquatic program will be coordinated with your land based PT program again helping to facilitate your return to a maximal level of function. This aquatic therapy pool is designed by Endless Pools, please visit their website for details of these pools. It has an underwater motorized treadmill with variable speeds from 0.1 MPH up to 7.5 MPH allowing rehab for someone relearning how to walk to an athlete returning to his or her sport. The pools are kept at therapeutic temperatures of 90-92 degrees. Some of the benefits of aquatic therapy include:
• Improve Strength and endurance
• Decrease swelling
• Increase Range of Motion
• Pain Management
• Improve Balance and Coordination
• Improve Circulation
• Increase Flexibility
• Complete activities you can’t do on land
• Early gait training
• Some physiologic benefits such as reducing blood pressure
• Increased Endurance
• Decreased Compressive forces through joints
