What is a meibomian gland?

They are glands in the rim of the eyelids and they see sebaceous. These glands provide an oily substance called meibum. These glands have multiple functions like:
Prevent tear evaporation
Lubricating the eyelids and eye ball
Helps maintain a smooth surface

Did you know these glands can contribute to dry eyes as well? If not functioning properly it can reduce the amount of oils that are produced and cause dryness, grittiness and burning.

🌼 Spring is here and pollen is in the air, but are your eyes feeling dry and irritated? Dry eye disease is very common but can vary from person to person with symptoms. The changes that come along with the season like pollen, increased use of the AC and other environmental things can contribute to dry eye.

Symptoms include:
Burning, grittiness, foreign body sensation and blurriness.
