Fun Friday 1/30/26: Our Community Outreach and Marketing Teams have been busy out and about in the communities we serve!

We loved celebrating "Activities Professionals Week" at Benton House of Covington GA, Reliable Health and Rehab, Bonterra Health and Rehab, Sadie G. Mays Health & Rehabilitation Center, Oaks at Stockbridge, The Gardenias Assisted Living & Memory Care, The Palms at Lake Spivey!

The birthday party at Fairburn Heights Skilled Nursing is always as blast and our favorite furry friend Duke the therapy dog with Clayton County Police Department joined us for story time at the Lovejoy Library.

We felt the love crafting at Governor's Glen Memory Care Community and our very own Janie Clark won the Griffin/Spalding Chamber of Commerce meeting raffle!

As always, it was a great week at Brightmoor!

In a powerful reminder that the heart of public service beats strongest in moments of compassion, Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Georgia DNR officers recently united with Brightmoor Hospice to help fulfill Mr. Larry’s dream of hunting once again.

Sergeant Travis Sweat and Corporal Keith Page went beyond the call of duty to assist a hospice patient who spent a lifetime in the woods. Before the hunt took place, Corporal Page began preparing for the experience. He scouted the land, owned by the family of a Brightmoor staff member, Heather Wilson. He carefully selected a safe and accessible location, set up a blind, and prepared the site to ensure the patient, who is in an electric wheelchair, could hunt with comfort and safety. Brightmoor Volunteer Coordinator, Tiffani Virden, who visits with Mr. Larry frequently transported him to and from his home to be able to do this.

This act of kindness exemplifies the very best of Georgia DNR Law Enforcement — officers who protect natural resources while never losing sight of the people they serve. It also highlights the profound impact of collaboration between public servants and hospice professionals, united by one goal: fulfilling the dream of a very special man.

Brightmoor Hospice’s partnership with Second Wind Dreams featuring the Virtual Dementia Tour allows us to provide inspiring moments and dream experiences for our clients.

🎲🏆 Casino Night at Westhill was a total win! 🎲🏆

Family Night went all in on fun and prizes, bringing residents and families together for games, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition. 🎰🎉 From card tables to cheering sidelines, the excitement stayed high and the prizes kept things extra fun. 😄🏆 We love hosting events where residents and families can play, laugh, and celebrate together. ✨🎉

Also, a BIG thank you to all of our Bibb County community partners that helped support this night for our residents! 💙

As we prepare for the possibility of inclement winter weather, here are a few tips for staying safe.

Whether is is transferring our patients to one of our 4 hospice care centers to ensure their safety, or dropping off extra supplies in case of emergencies, Brightmoor is there to ride out the storm beside you and will always to the right thing, because it is the right thing to do. Our team will be available all weekend for patients and caregivers at 770-467-9746.

We are blessed with staff willing to go the extra mile-even on Christmas Day! Volunteers from Brightmoor Hospice delivered goody bags on Christmas to our community partners to show our appreciation and spread a little Christmas cheer.

Thankful Thursday 1/22/2026: Each Thursday we like to highlight a member of our staff that has gone above and beyond in some special way.

This week's submission comes from Paula Stark:

I would like to recognize Savannah Driskell. We have a patient here at our Macon IPU who came in for respite stay, She was having a hard time in many many ways but Savannah took time with her during her shift to listen to her for over an hour, was her shoulder to cry on, provided reassurance to her, just overall being the person her patient needed in that time. One of the things that stood out to me was after Savannahs shift, she went to the grocery store and came back with her patient’s favorite snacks, meals, etc. just so she would be more comfortable during her stay and have all the things that she wants/needs. Savannah's patient was so so happy and even cried with tears of joy and was full of appreciation. Savannah is always going above and beyond for everyone, truly giving the pickle and being the perfect example of "The Brightmoor way".
