✨Senior Spotlight: Beverly✨
Beverly Beck has brought her warm and engaging personality to Kennybrook Village, where she enjoys being part of a vibrant community. A conversationalist at heart, Beverly loves talking with others and believes in the golden rule: “People will treat you the way you want to be treated.” A Des Moines native, Beverly graduated from East High School and went on to a remarkable career as a secretary at the State Library, where she worked for 45 years supporting librarians before retiring. Her dedication and hard work left a lasting impact, showcasing her exceptional commitment to her profession.
Beverly was married to her husband, Glenn, for 37 wonderful years. Together, they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including camping trips to the Ozarks, which remains some of Beverly fondest memories. Family has always been at the heart of Beverly’s life. Glen had a son, Marty, from a previous marriage. Beverly had two sisters, Diane and Donna, and she helped her mother raise her brother, Charles. Together they created fun and cherished memories. Beverly especially loved decorating for Christmas and took great pride in her collection of Santa figurines, a reflection of her festive spirit.
In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, solving puzzles and movies, hobbies that continue to bring her joy. She’s the first one to say, “I’ll do it!” when it comes to bus trips, like the zoo, or Baseball outings. If Beverly could offer one piece of advice, it would be a humorous but heartfelt reminder to “Behave yourself- you don’t want to be a brat.” Her warmth, humor and genuine love of connection make her a beloved member of the Kennybrook community. She appreciates Kennybrook for its sense of community. “People treat you good here,” she says, and it’s clear that she adds to the kindness and camaraderie that makes Kennybrook feel like home.💚
