I was visiting like any other day with one of my Residents. He started sharing a story from WWII. I asked him to please pause so I could video the story for you all to hear as well. He agreed. What I captured was one of Stanley Walfords many stories. He has a way of pulling you into the incredible story. The details and memories still able to be shared generations later.

Last week was all things Spooktacular. We had dress-up days that brought so much laughter that tears flowed. The new game we played toward Halloween needs a little tweaking, but it was still fun. Whenever we are together around our dining room table, laughter always seems to meet us there, which made for a good laugh trying to blindly draw pumpkins. Lol. We also danced to the Monster Mash and other Halloween themed songs for exercie. Friday, we then opened our home to the community and passed out candy. We loved all the costumes and appreciated each and every one of you that made our night brighter.

Today was about running races in the hall this morning. The guys thought we were to slow for them this morning. Then this afternoon we slowed it down a bit and meandered our way down to Diamond Lake. We tried to spy as many fall leaves as we could. The history shared in the back seat went many years back.

We had a sip n chat in our beautiful sunroom. It's our own secret sanctuary. We aren't wishing away the sun, but the snowy days in the sunroom are almost magical. Get out and enjoy the leaves that are definitely at their peak and just beautiful right now.

Jeffrey Hamond was born on December 23,1947 in Paterson, New Jersey to parents James and Dorothy Hamond. Jeff was number two in the family placement, and he has four siblings Jane (deceased), Jim, Richard, and Daniel. His father James was an Airline Executive, and his mother Dorothy was a stay-at-home mom. He has many memories spent with his family on the beaches of New Jersey specifically in Manasquan. Jeff loved sports and was very active with football and baseball. His first job was in the fast-food industry.

Jeff proudly served two years in the Army; he was stationed in Washington state at Ft. Lewis. He later attended Central Connecticut State where he received a degree in Business with major in Math. Jeff held many jobs. He had been a Liquor Store owner for over ten years in Connecticut, cook, baker, also, he worked at a Community College in their IT Dept. Jeff went on a blind date with JoAnne Walmsey who later became his wife. They lived in Durham, Connecticut where they built their family home. Jeff and Joanne’s union brought twins John (Gemma)-of Grinnell, and James (Pamela) – of Connecticut. Jeffs love for sports carried over to watching son James with his sports. He has many family memories that he holds dear to his heart. Jeff moved back to Iowa in 2024 shortly before he joined our Windsor family. In his free time, he loves playing chess and cards. His love for chess stems from the brain power it takes and not just the luck that comes with playing cards. Jeff we are so happy to have you as part of our Windsor Family.
